So far the weekend has been a wash out. We were suppose to have a family BBQ for my daughter’s birthday party but due to impending bad weather (thunderstorms, lightning, high winds) we moved it to tomorrow. Turns out the rain and bad weather didn’t finally hit us until about 7 PM this evening and only lasted for about a half hour and wasn’t nearly as bad as the weather people said it would be. So instead of enjoying our day we were held “captive” in our home waiting for this horrible weather to show up which never did.
Thankfully I had plenty of magazines to read through so I took some to sit on my balcony and enjoy the cool breeze. One of the magazines I am getting (a freebie too!) is Hallmark magazine. I have never heard about it until now when my free subscription kicked in and I must say it’s a great magazine. It’s very high quality and has a lot of great articles and recipes in it. You can read more about it here, http://www.hallmarkmagazine.com/.
There was an interesting thing in the news the other day. Apparently some people found a tribe deep in the Amazon jungle who have never seen the “outside world”. They were terrified of the airplane that circled over them to take pictures of them. The men where trying to throw spears at the plane. I’ve included one of the pictures taken of them above.
I find this very interesting that these people have never seen anyone other then themselves. They have lived for who knows how long deep in the Amazon Jungle. They have no conception of a TV, cell phone, car, plane or McDonalds. That is just so amazing to think that there are people in this world who are so remote and “untouched” by civilization.
The sad thing is that scientists and research people are going to swarm to that tribe and try and make contact with them. I say LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!! They don’t need us or our help. They don’t need Adidas sneakers or Abercrombie T-shirts! They don’t need our politics, medications or religions shoved down their throats. These amazing people have survived this long without our so called help, so PLEASE leave them alone. I understand how people would want to study them, but they are not animals. They are people. People who are obviously terrified by “us”.
From what I read there are about 100 tribes around the world still “untouched” by the outside world. Just 100 tribes! That is a sad statistic. To think that their worlds are being taken over by us and our development of the land and people who are cutting down the trees in the Amazon to raise more cattle to make McDonald’s hamburgers with. It’s a sad, sad, sad thing.
