Flirty Girl Fitness

It’s almost the end of the year and many of us are already considering our New Year’s resolutions. For most of us that almost always includes loosing weight, exercising and getting in shape. I know that has been my yearly resolution since about 1980 (ha ha). Usually my resolutions last until about January 2nd. Sigh…

Thanks to the Family Review Network I was able to review a new line of fitness and exercise (and then some!) DVD’s by Flirty Girl Fitness. Oh my my… this is NOT your ordinary series of fitness and exercise routines. There is nothing “ordinary” about the Flirty Girl Fitness collection.

I had the opportunity to review the instructional DVD’s entitled “Booty Beat”, “Just Teasing”, “Chair Dance” and “Chair Fit”. They arrived with a beautiful pink storage box and a matching key chain. The DVD’s even came with a pink feather boa! Flirty Girl Fitness even has a pole dancing DVD series and you can even purchase a pole too! Imagine that. The DVD’s also came with a booklet that includes a meal plan.

First of all I have to tell you that I’m not exactly a “petite” person. As my mother would say I’m “pleasantly plump” (or by doctor’s standards “obese”). So needless to say I was in awe of these skinny minnie girls in the DVD’s with the rock hard abs. I think they could put some men to shame too! These ladies are incredibly fit.

“Chair Fit” is the hardest of the DVD’s (at least for someone like me). Oh my! The DVD starts off great with an easy enough to do warm up. Remember you must always warm up and cool down with any exercise you do. And please make sure to check with your doctor before starting any exercise routine. I was exhausted just after the warm up! LOL! And I have never seen a warm up routine made “sexy” before.

“Chair Fit” has some really funky music to help get you in the mood to do the exercises. I can tell you that I hurt like crazy after doing this DVD. LOL! I’m so out of shape and my calves are killing me. But that is a good thing. That means I used muscles I don’t normally use and in time and frequently using the DVD’s they won’t hurt anymore.

For “Chair Fit” they recommend that you have hand weights, but it’s possible to do the exercises without them. Winnie, who is one of the girls in the DVD, is the one to follow along with if you don’t have the weights or if you are not as “agile” either (meaning, if you are out of shape like I am).

Some of the exercises I haven’t “mastered” as of yet, such as the triceps dip and the skull crunches are not a good idea to try when you are tired. Ha Ha. I also have to figure out how to get my chair to stop sliding around when I’m using it for the exercises.

I was grateful for the warm down exercises. It gave me a chance to lie down.

The “Chair Dance” DVD uses sexy music and teaches you a very sexy routine to do using a chair. My husband watched part of this DVD and he said that he gave it a two thumbs up and can’t wait for me to learn the entire routine so I can show him in person. Ha! Your significant other will certainly appreciate you learning this routine. This would make a great “gift” too! I don’t think too many men would not appreciate their lady showing off this routine.

Thankfully they go over the routine again and again so that by the end of the DVD you should pretty much have it. I still have to manage to do the kick over the chair without looking like I’m going to fall over. It’s easier said then done for people with short stubby legs like me. But the whole routine is easily adjustable to something you are comfortable with.

“Booty Beat” is NOT your average aerobics routine. Even for someone like me the moves were very “do able”. I might not look as sexy as the ladies in the DVD but at least I could keep up with them with little problem. I’m still trying to get the “party girl” move down right and I can only image what I look like when I do the “booty shake” move. They even do the dance move from “Flashdance” in this DVD. “Goodness Rising” is another one I have yet to master.

Honestly the moves you learn from this DVD would work great in any dance club too! If you like to go out dancing you could learn some new dance moves from this DVD. Plus the music is great too.

Of course my husband said the girls should be wearing bikinis in this DVD. Ha! MEN!!! LOL!

The “Just Teasing” DVD shows you have to do sexy moves using the feather boa that came with the DVDs. It starts off on the floor and it’s pretty easy enough to do. As with the other DVD’s the moves are very sexy and the music goes along perfectly. My husband said he can’t wait for me to show him what I’ve learned from this DVD. Mind you we live in a one bedroom condo with two kids. Privacy is not something we have in our home. Ha Ha.

FYI… cats LOVE feather boas! LOL!

If you are looking for a unique and fun way to get in shape, and learn some sexy moves you can show off to your partner too, then I highly recommend the Flirty Girl Fitness collection. It’s a great way to get in shape and start feeling more confident about yourself and gain a bit of sexy confidence too. This would make a great gift too! Learn these sexy moves and show them off to your loved one. I’m sure they will be very glad that you did!

You Can Call Me Hoppa!

I just finished reading the sweetest book that I plan on giving to my father and step-mother. It’s called “You Can Call Me Hoppa: The Grandparents’ Guide to Choosing a Name that Fits” by Lauren Charpio. This is a wonderful book that would make a memorable and cherished keepsake book for any grandparent or soon-to-be grandparent in your life, even you!

When my children were born they were blessed to know a set of great-grandparents, their maternal grandparents and a paternal grandmother. We were very concerned about what our children could call all these grandparents. I knew their great-grandparents would be known as Nanny and Grandad. My great-grandmother and great-grandfather were my Nanny and Grandad so I wanted the same for my kids.

Things got trickier when it came to the grandparents. My father just some how became Grandpa. I’m not sure if he was overly keen on that name. I know it made him feel “old” even though he wasn’t (he became a Grandpa when he was 48!). That name just sort of fell upon him.

We had a hard time figuring out what they kids could call the grandmothers. They ended up referring to my step-mother as Grandma Linda and my husband’s mother simply Grandma. My children never had a chance to meet my husband’s father who passed away when he was a little boy. Our kids really don’t have a name for him. They just refer to him as “Daddy’s Daddy”.

Recently my step-sister gave birth to an adorable little girl, which made my father and step-mother grandparents again. It has me wondering what she will call my father and step-mother when she starts to speak.

You Can Call Me Hoppa” is a wonderful book for anyone trying to figure out what to call the grandparents. I never realized there were so many other wonderful names aside from the cliche’ Grandma, Grandpa, Grandfather and Grandmother. This book really opened my eyes to the many special names children can call their grandparents.

While reading the book I learned that Bestemor is Norwegian for grandmother. I had a great-grandmother I called Bestemor. I never knew that it was Norwegian for grandmother. I just thought it was a nickname.

This book made me realize that you can give grandparents names in other languages (Grand Mere is French for grandmother – that is so pretty!). You can also give grandparents nicknames like Hoppa, Chief, or even Tootsie!

With the holidays upon us I think this would make a very special gift to give to the grandparent, or soon to be grandparent in your life.

You Can Call Me Hoppa” is available at Amazon and at You Can Call Me Hoppa.
