Il Divo "The Promise"

For those who don’t know me personally I am a very eclectic person, especially when it comes to music. I can listen to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and immediately after that listen to something by Metallica, followed by something from Josh Grobin and the listen to a Marilyn Manson tune. As you can see my taste in music runs across the board. I like a little of everything.

Recently I had the opportunity to listen to Il Divo’s new album, “The Promise”. I have to admit that although I have heard of Il Divo I have never actually heard any songs by them.

I was pleasantly surprised when I listened to the album. To me Il Divo sounds like a cross between Josh Grobin and the Three Tenors (Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras) which is a compliment because those are some of the most talented artists around. It’s not an opera album like you would have with any of the tenors, but there are some opera-like qualities about it. Keep in mind I like hardcore heavy metal, so it’s not THAT much like opera. It just has some of the qualities of it.

“The Promise” is a very romantic kind of album. I can clearly see listening to this during a romantic dinner with my husband (if we EVER get that opportunity again… ha ha). Or even as background music at a party or get together.

Their song “La Luna” is one of my favorites. For some reason the beginning reminds me of the theme song to the movie “Ice Castles” but towards the end it starts to remind me of a song called “Words” by the Bee Gees. It’s a lovely song and I have listened to it over and over again already.

“Angelina” is another favorite of mine. I believe it’s a remake but I’m not sure of the original artist. In any event Il Divo certainly does the song great justice – it’s beautiful!

“I Knew I Loved You” is another beautiful, romantic love song! I swear these young men have voices that could melt butter!

“Adagio” is probably the “boldest” song on the album. It gets pretty loud and dramatic at at the end. This one reminds me more so of opera then any other song on the album.

Il Divo also does their versions of “Amazing Grace” and “Hallelujah”. Of course my kids were quick to point out that “Hallelujah” was in the Shrek movie (LOL). Il Divo does an amazing job on both of these all time classic songs.

Il Divo’s “The Promise” is available now where ever albums are sold.

Become a Hero this Christmas

I have no idea how I stumbled upon this site, but I’m very glad that I did.

Wish Upon a Hero is a fabulous site whose motto is “Everyone can help anyone”.

Wish Upon a Hero is a site that helps others to get wishes granted, or for people to grant the wishes of others. There are so many people out there in dire need of things, from a winter coat to holiday cards for a lonely shut-in. I have read many of the wishes and I have to say there are plenty of wishes that need granting that mostly anyone can do, any many do not require any money donations. Some people just wish for cards and others just wish for prayers and well wishes. Anyone can do that! You don’t have to be rich to send someone a prayer.

If you are in need of a wish to be granted you can also post your wishes. Realistic wishes of course! You can’t wish to meet George Clooney. LOL! But if you are in need of a few dollars to buy a winter coat, or you could really use some encouraging words you are welcome to post your wishes too.

Personally I don’t have much money, so I can’t really donate funds to people. I can however send Christmas cards. I have been going through the wishes to find children and people in need to send Christmas cards to. If all it costs me is the price of a stamp to make someone happy, then it’s well worth it. If there are other wishes I can find that I can grant I’d be happy to do that too.

Times are hard all over and some people are having a much harder time then others. Please, can you take a moment to visit Wish Upon a Hero and become a hero to someone today?

You know who is MY hero? My friend Kasey!!! He’s MY hero! To learn more about Kasey and to leave Kasey and his family some well wishes this holiday season please visit Kasey’s CaringBridge Page by clicking here.

A silly Christmas Joke

Ok, so this joke might be rated “PG-13″ (LOL) but I thought it was too funny not to share. My dear friend Arlene sent this to me this morning and both my husband and myself got a huge kick out of it.

Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.

‘In honor of this holy season’ Saint Peter said, ‘You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven.’

The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. ‘It represents a candle’, he said. ‘You may pass through the pearly gates’ Saint Peter said.

The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, ‘They’re bells.’ Saint Peter said ‘You may pass through the pearly gates’.

The third man started searching desperately through his pockets and finally pulled out a pair of women’s panties. St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, ‘And just what do those symbolize?’ The man replied, ‘These are Carols.’
