Feel Good Story – The Mortgage Apple Cake

Here is a story that will really make you feel good. It was too “sweet” not to share with my She Scribes readers.

Angela Logan, a single mom of three, tried to have some construction done to the family home. Sadly there were a lot of problems with that situation which resulted in a foreclosure notice on her home. Sadly many people find themselves in the same situation.

Angela couldn’t’t afford to fix the damage that was done to her home. She had a $2,500 payment due in two weeks and she didn’t know how she would come up with that kind of money in such a short amount of time. Her kids came up with the idea of selling cakes to make up the money they needed.

The whole family set out to sell what they called “Mortgage Apple Cakes” to raise the $2,500 dollar payment. They figured out if they could sell 100 cakes at $40 dollars a piece they could make the payment on their home (remember they also needed to buy baking supplies and ingredients). After the local community heard the news and the press got wind of the story Angela and her family’s lives have changed considerably.

Exciting News for August – Back to School Time!

My apologies for not posting yesterday. I’m working on a blog post idea for the month of August and between that (and the million e-mails associated with it) and the kids being home from camp I just didn’t have a chance to write a post or two (or in my case three, four…ha ha).

I came up with the idea of doing a “Back to School” series of posts for August. I wanted to post about some “must have” back to school products, tips on how to save money, great resources, giveaways and more! I have spent the past two days e-mailing back and forth several great companies and people gathering up lots of great information to share with you all here on my blog.

With that said during the month of August you will see a lot of posts that say “Back to School” and then something about the post, such as “Back to School: How to save money on school supplies” or “Back to School: Eco-friendly products”. Something along those lines. That way you know what the post is about so you can decide if it’s information you are interested in or not. I might even post a company name such as “Back to School: Terracycle“.

I have researched information and products for children ranging from Elementary School through College so hopefully I can provide some valuable information that can assist you with your back to school shopping and getting your children ready to return to school.

I will be hosting some Back to School related giveaways too as well as passing along discount information for some interesting stores.
