I’m starting Nutrisystem tomorrow…wish me luck!

Well it’s almost official. As of midnight I’ll officially be on Nutrisystem (of course I won’t be eating at midnight). I have been anxious to start for days now but I figured starting the first day of the month, which also happens to be a Monday, would be ideal. That way it would be easier for me to keep track of how many months I have been trying to lose weight too.

I know it sounds silly but I have been indulging a little too much the past couple of days. On Friday I had ziti and a slice of pizza from my favorite local Pizza place. Yesterday I had fish and chips and today for brunch I had Eggs Benedict. Yummy! Yummy! I’m not saying I can NEVER have these things again, but they will have to be saved for special occasions and I’ll need to compensate for them by working out more and cutting back on what I eat that day.

We just got back from the store where I picked up plenty of fruits and veggies, baked chicken, low-fat string cheese and a few other grocery items that I need for Nutrisystem.

To clear up any misconceptions, you don’t eat JUST the pre-packaged foods while on Nutrisystem. You also eat non-Nutrisystem items too.

Here is an example of what a day on Nutrisystem is like.

As you can see there is a lot more then JUST Nutrisystem products. You do eat “real foods” too.

There are even foods that are “unlimited” (which I will be taking full advantage of…LOL). Some unlimited products include mushrooms, snow peas, broccoli, cucumbers and lettuce. You can even have up to 8 ounces of low sodium broth (up to 16 ounces for sodium free). Even a bowl of broth is nice sometimes, especially on a cold Winter day.

Because I have more then 100 pounds to lose (ugh) I can add another carbohydrate to both breakfast and dinner as well as a fruit to lunch. Carbohydrates include things like 1/2 an English Muffin (whole grain/wheat), 1/2 cup of corn, a slice of rye bread, 1/2 cup of cooked oatmeal – even 3 cups of popcorn! Technically I can add three cups of popcorn with dinner (not that I would of course).

It sounds like A LOT of food, doesn’t it? I guess we’ll see. Tomorrow I officially start. I’ll also do my official starting weight (ugh) and maybe, if I’m daring enough, a picture too. I’m still looking for the tape measure so that I can get some starting measurements too. I might have to buy one.

I really want to plot out my meals for the week but honestly, I don’t want to look through all the foods I have from Nutrisystem because I want to try them all and I think it will make it that much harder. I’m leaning more towards just grabbing the first thing I see.

Wish me luck! I know I have a long, long way to go. But I am very determined and very confident that I will do well on this program.

I’ll be blogging about my progress each week as well as what I think of the foods and the program. I will always post about it on Friday (weight loss) but I might also post here and there during the week too.

*I am receiving the Nutrisystem foods free to do this review of the program. There is no other compensation. The opinions expressed are my own.
