My daughter is the one who now spends FOREVER in the bathroom getting ready. I wouldn’t mind much but we only have one bathroom so we cannot afford for her to spend an hour doing her hair. Unlike me she wouldn’t be dare be seen in a ponytail.
Our daughter loves to play around with her hair styles. Some days it’s straight, other days she braids it, and other days she puts it up in a lose bun. She likes to wear a different hair style every day.
When I was asked if I wanted to review the Infiniti by Conair You Curl hair “wand” (I call it a wand because that it what it reminds me of) I was very excited. Not only would it give my daughter a chance to try out other hair styles but it would also give me the opportunity to play up my own hair style.
I have very thick hair that is naturally wavy. Here is a picture of the back of my head. I had a shower earlier and let my hair dry naturally. The lighter area towards the top is the flash from the camera reflecting off the mirror. That is not gray hair, although I do have plenty of that!
I have always loved those spiral curls that I see some ladies wear. I have never been able to mimic those same curls with my own hair. I think they are very pretty and feminine.
The Infiniti by Conair You Curl is a special cone shaped hair curler. The first thing you notice is that it doesn’t have a clamp to hold down the hair. With other hair curlers you have that dreaded clamp to hold the hair on the wand which usually ends up putting a kink or crimp at the end of your hair. With the You Curl you hold on to the end of your hair yourself so that there is no kink or crimp at the end.
Other features of the You Curl include:
- Tourmaline Ceramic™ technology
- More protection
- Reduces frizz
- Helps eliminate static
- No damaging hot spots
- Powerful ceramic heater
- 30-second instant heat*
- Ultra-high heat
- 400°F/204°C
- Auto shutoff
- LED indicator lights
- Professional-length line cord
I can tell by experience that You Curl DOES heat up in about 30 seconds. I didn’t exactly time it but I know by the time I turned it on then combed my hair to make sure it was free from knots it was ready to go. The You Curl also gets VERY hot (up to 400 degrees!).
I have to admit that the You Curl does take practice. The first few times I used it I couldn’t get the hair to curl the right way. It kept sliding down towards the thinner end of the wand. I would start at the thicker end and try to end at the thinnest part but my hair would always slide towards the thinner part.
I’m also right handed and had a hard time with the right side of my head because I had to hold the wand a different way. After a while I figured out how to use it the right way. Now each time I used it I find it a little easier. Practice makes perfect.
Here is a picture of my hair prior to using the You Curl. Some of my hair is pulled up (it’s not that thin – this is just a section). You can see my natural wave.
After you curl your hair you are suppose to leave it alone to cool down before touching it. I didn’t touch my hair until I was done with my entire head. Once cooled you can use your hands to finger comb your hair and style it. I like to flip my head over, run my fingers through my hair (upside down) then scrunch some sections with my hand.
This is what that same section of hair looked like after I finger combed it.
My 13 year old daughter is able to use the You Curl too. She has yet to do her entire head but she loves to take strands of hair and make them have spiral curls to had more bounce and body to her hair.
I’m giving the Infiniti by Conair You Curl two thumbs up and 5 stars. It does everything it’s suppose to do and it does work great. The only down side is that it takes a while to figure out how to get to get your hair “just right”. Like I said, “Practice makes perfect”.
