I ♥ BBQ sauce. I enjoy it year round, not just during the summer months. It tastes great on burgers, steaks, chicken, fries, ribs and other foods.
My family and I are not very picky when it comes to BBQ sauce. I usually pick up whatever is on sale. My husband loves a BBQ sauce with a spicy kick to it. My kids prefer a sweeter kind of sauce like the kinds made with honey.
It would be interesting to make home made BBQ sauce but I wouldn’t even know where to begin. I’m sure there is a lot more to it then just spices.
Thanks to the Family Review Network I was selected to review a line of BBQ sauce called Herman T’s BBQ Sauce. The interesting thing about Herman T’s is that its a mix and you make the sauce yourself when you need it so its fresh. Plus you have the flexibility of making a lot if needed.
As soon as I heard about Herman T’s I knew I had to try it.
Using the Herman T’s BBQ Sauce mix is super easy. All you need to do it add a 1/2 of cup each of water and ketchup, a tablespoon of the mix and then let is simmer on the stove for about 5 minutes. That’s it! That is all there is to it.
We’re made the sauce a few times. The first time I followed the recipe exactly but my husband said it was lacking enough of a kick. He said it tasted more like ketchup then BBQ sauce. The next time I made it I added an additional tablespoon of the mix and my husband said it was much better (although he prefers it stronger). The beauty of Herman T’s is that you can customize it to suite your tastes. I imagine you can add additional ingredients like honey, brown sugar, onions or whatever else your desire.
Herman T’s sent us both regular and Spicy Hot. My husband loves the spicy hot sauce mix. Its a wee bit too spicy for my taste but he loves it. Looks like I’ll be making two different sauces. LOL! Actually I thought about mixing 1/2 regular and 1/2 spicy hot to see if I can find a happy medium between the two.
I enjoy that the sauce is freshly prepared and it’s interesting using it hot off the stove.
Since it’s made with ketchup it goes great with other things people might put ketchup on like french fries. My kids LOVE to dip baked fries into the Herman T’s BBQ sauce. They also love it with chicken nuggets and my son even mentioned hot dogs. Hot dogs with BBQ sauce? That would be interesting.
We’re giving Herman T’s BBQ Sauce mixes a two thumbs up. It tastes great (just play around with the mix to suit your tastes), you can make as much as you need when you need it and really simple to make.

Herman T’s would like to give a lucky reader a two-pack of BBQ sauce mix, one regular and one spicy. Thanks Herman T’s!

I learned that one pouch of mix makes 3/4 gallon of delicious BBQ sauce but you don’t have to make it all at once.

I learned that Herman T’s dream was his barbecue sauce and although he created it, it was not marked on the shelves until after he passed away….Amazing yet, sad story.
