$25 Restaurant Gift Certificates for as Little as $1.00!

Yes, you read that right! You can get $25 gift certificates to area restaurants for as little as $1.00. I didn’t believe it either until I checked it out for myself.

Restaurant.com has been around for a long time. There you can buy $25 gift certificates for $10. It almost seems too good to be true. Unfortunately for me there are not any participating restaurants near where I live. I would have to drive across the river or into New Jersey to find something. That is just where I live. Your area might be different. Even though I’m in the suburbs of NYC we don’t have nearly as many restaurants and stores as they do upstate.

I recently learned that Restaurant.com now has daily deals. There you can purchase $25 gift certificates for as little as $1.00.

To see if it really worked that way I went to the Daily Deals page, www.Restaurant.com/DailyDealand chose the first restaurant I saw that is in my general area. I put a $25 gift card in my shopping cart. Then I went to my shopping cart and noticed that the charge for the $25 gift card was $10.00. I then added the Daily Deal discount code, WOW, to my shopping cart and it brought the cost down to $1.00!

I was thinking that this might be too good to be true so I went back to read the restrictions on the gift certificate and this is what it said.

Minimum purchase of $35.00. 18% Gratuity added prior to discount. Valid for Dinner, Dine in ONLY. Valid for parties of 2 or more.

OK, I can live with these terms. We usually tip 15% anyway so the 18% gratuity is not that bad, especially considering we’re saving $24.00 using the gift certificate. That is still a great savings.

A $100 gift certificate to the same restaurant costs $40 but with the Daily Deal discount it came to $4.00! That is a $96.00 savings.

It would appear that this is 100% legitimate however I caution you to read the fine print on any restaurant you are interested in purchasing a gift certificate to so that there are no surprises when you go to redeem it. For example, you can get a $25 gift certificate for Mrs. Field’s Cookies for only $10, but there is a minimum purchase of $75 before you can redeem it. I’m pretty sure I’ll never have a need to buy $75 in cookies.

Here is some more information you should know.

- You can use this discount to buy $10, $25, $50, $75 and $100 restaurant specific gift certificates.

- Not valid on Restaurant.com Gift Certificates, Dinner of the Month Club or Restaurant.com Gift Cards.

- There is a limit of (3) $25 restaurant specific gift certificates per order.

- This offer will expire but the gift certificates you purchase will not. Gift certificates purchased on Restaurant.com at any given time will not expire.

HURRY! I don’t know how long the Daily Deal will last. To check it out visit www.Restaurant.com/DailyDeal. When you are ready to check out you MUST put the discount code WOW in before checking out in order to get 90% off of your order.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wow. It amazes me just how people can ASSUME they know other people without ever meeting them.

For the record, I NEVER make any claims of being a scientist, nutritionist or any kind of a health expert. I know just as much as the average “Joe Schmoe” on the street (probably a bit more – I’m a whiz at Jeopardy).

I might also make note that both of my children are very healthy. In fact the school’s nurse called me up at home one day to commend me on how nutritionally sound the lunch is I pack for my children. As a school nurse she confessed that the lunches she packs her own children were not as healthy.

Both of my children do well in school and are normal, healthy weights. My kids enjoy plenty of fresh fruits and veggies on a daily basis. How many of YOUR children eat spinach and broccoli? Mine do.

I can count on one hand how many times we’ve eaten at a fast food restaurant in the past year, with fingers left over.

Just because my kids indulge in an itty bitty package of fruit snacks once in a blue moon is NOT a big deal. I can’t even tell you the last time I purchased any kind of  a fruit snack, unless you count watermelon and apples from the Farmer’s Market.

So the next time people want pass judgement on people they DON’T know from Jack they need to stop and take a good, long look at themselves. UNLESS you are 100% PERFECT in EVERY WAY you have NO RIGHT to pass judgement on others. Unless you are God. And it’s safe to assume that God would not be writing a website bashing other people for no good reason.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate all the wonderful traffic that lame post has given my site. Not that I needed the extra traffic. My site is successful enough without it.

I hope you have a beautiful day!

Nature’s Path Granola Bars – A Healthy Lunch Box Treat

About an hour ago I was making lunches for my family. My husband makes his own lunch but I usually end up putting actual FOOD in his lunch box. If I leave it to him to make his lunch he’ll have a lunch box full of left over birthday cake, popcorn and a sandwich. I usually toss in some fruit and veggies.

I find it frustrating at times to make lunches for my kids. I don’t want to keep serving them the same things over and over again. I like to mix things up a bit so that they get excited to see what is in their lunch boxes rather then dread it.

Thankfully my kids know that they need to eat their sandwich first and foremost. Next they need to eat something else that is healthy for them (fruits and or veggies). Snack foods should be eaten last. And as you know, its usually the snack foods that the kids want the most.

I tend to stick with healthy snacks low in fat and calories like popcorn, mini rice cakes, 2-4 cookies (depending on the size), or pretzels. Even when it comes to snacks I like to offer them different things as often as I can. Being overly picky about what I serve my kids something has to be a “healthier option” compared to other alternatives. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t let the kids ONLY eat healthy foods. They are allowed to have candy, cakes, cookies and ice cream, just within reason.

In the past I have put some granola in small containers for the kids to snack on. One of their favorites (and mine too!) is the Organic Pumpkin Flax Granola from Nature’s Path. Its high in fiber and contains whole grains and tastes great. Its not often that you come across pumpkin flavored products.

Nature’s Path also makes granola bars. Granola bars are another snack option that I like to serve to my children. I love that they contain whole grains and fiber which many children are lacking in their diets.

I like the variety of flavors that Nature’s Path offers for their granola bars. The Lotta’ Apricotta Granola Barsare unique because its not often you find apricot granola bars. The apricots give the bar its fruity sweetness and the pieces of almonds add a bit of crunch. Mmm…yummy!

Another “must try” flavor is the MMMaple Pecan Granola Bars. If you love the taste of maple then you must try the MMMaple Pecan bars. These bars also contain flax and whole grains and is an excellent source of Omega-3′s which are vital for brain and heart health, among other things.

A perfect flavor for this time of year is the Nature’s Path Pumpkin-N-Spice Granola Bars. I these bars! These are so good. The perfect treat for a cool, crisp Autumn day! These bars also contain raisins for added sweetness.

All of the Nature’s Path granola bars are chewy. Some can be a bit sticky too so its best to keep them in their packaging so you have something to hold on to.

The bars all seem to have around 2 grams of fiber and 2 grams of protein. The calories and fat grams range. Compared to a bag of potato chips or a chocolate bar its clear that granola bars are a much better option. Plus granola bars don’t have to be kept cool and they don’t get all smashed up inside a lunch box. They are also a great “on-to-go” treat you can grab when you are rushing out the door.

If you find that you are looking for something to nosh on at work you should keep a box of granola bars in your desk drawers. You’ll be able to satisfy your need for something sweet to eat and your body will get some extra protein and fiber too.

Nature’s Path granola bars get two thumbs up from this family.
