October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know that breast cancer is the second most prevalent cancer that affects 1 out of every 8 women. That is a REALL Y scary statistic. Think about yourself and 7 friends or family members. Statistically speaking one of you might develop breast cancer.
This year alone, more than 200,000 women and 1,500 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer. YES! Men get breast cancer too. My grandfather had to have a mastectomy because he developed breast cancer. It’s hard to believe that men can have Austin breast augmentation too.
Some symptoms of breast cancer include a new lump or bump that does not seem to go away, spontaneous discharge from the nipple, a change in the contours of the breast, redness or pitting of the skin.
It is vital that you get regular screenings for breast cancer before symptoms. All women should do a Breast Self-Exam on a monthly basis. If you are younger than 40 a breast exam should be part of their routine annual physical. If you are over 40 a mammogram should be performed on a yearly basis.
From now until October 31, 2010 a friend of mine, Alicia, is donating 100% of the profits on her Breast Cancer Awareness jewelry on her site, Beaded Royalty. I had reviewed one of her BEAUTIFUL bracelets about a month ago. You can read that review here, https://www.shescribes.com/2010/08/beaded-royalty-heirloom-quality-customized-jewelry.html.
Alicia is doing this in honor of a friend of hers who is currently battling breast cancer.
Alicia’s jewelry would make an amazing gift for someone who might currently be battling breast cancer or a breast cancer survivor. You can also purchase the jewelry for yourself and wear it proudly in support of breast cancer awareness. With the holidays coming up you could get some holiday shopping done while helping raise money for breast cancer research.
