This morning I received an e-mail from Toys R Us with some great deals that they are having this week. One that stood out the most to me is that you can buy Candyland and Chutes & Ladders for only $1.00 each! They are actually on sale for $3.00 each but as per the circular there is a $2.00 mail in rebate so it works out to $1.00 each.
Candyland and Chutes & Ladders are classic children’s games the whole family can enjoy. To be honest with you I have never met anyone who has not enjoyed these iconic games at some point in their life. They may have changed significantly since I was a child. In fact they are very different from when my kids were little but over all the games are still the same.
There will be MANY children across the country this year who are going to wake up Christmas morning to a bare tree and empty stocking because their parents don’t have enough money to buy even a few presents. I know some people say the economy is getting better but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t millions of families who can barely squeak by with the essentials, let alone presents for the holiday. Just yesterday I was speaking with someone who volunteers at the local food pantry. She said that there are OVER 800+ families in our very tiny county who use their services. I can’t imagine how many families are in need in big cities across the country, or in areas hit the hardest with layoffs and unemployment.
For only ONE DOLLAR per game (after mail in rebate), if possible, please consider picking up a few games and donating them to Toys for Tots or a local charity that collects toys for children in need. I know most people can afford $1.00. Even if it meant giving up a bagel or cup of coffee from the local deli one morning, it would be well worth it. I think making a child smile would warm your heart much more then a cup of coffee, and that “warm fuzzy” feeling of knowing you made a difference in a child’s life will last a lot longer too.
The special Candyland and Chutes & Ladders price and rebate is available from November 7th – November 13th, 2010.
Toys R Us has other great sales going on this week. There are plenty of games for only $3.00 (and usually games are pretty expensive), I also noticed a lot of “Free with Purchase” type deals too like a Toy Story Popcorn Tin and a wardrobe for your Princess clothing. They also have Sony DVD’s for $9.99 AND buy one/get one free. So you can get two popular DVD’s for $9.99.
