Holiday Helper – George Foreman Evolve Grill (Giveaway!)

**Due to a problem with this page the giveaway has been extended to November 23, 2010 **

The holiday season hasn’t really “officially” kicked off yet. At least not until “Black Friday”. Yet some how myself, and others that I know, are already super busy. Between not feeling well and having a ton of things I need to get done I forgot to take the pot roast out and put it in the crock pot to cook it. We ended up having pasta for dinner. To be honest dinner totally slipped my mind today.

With all the rushing around everyone does and coming home exhausted from walking around the mall two dozen times looking for the “perfect gift”, its no wonder that dinner often suffers. Its easier to pick up the phone and order take out then having to get out all the pots and pans and stand over a hot stove getting dinner ready. Trust me, I can relate. But you know what? It doesn’t have to be that way. You CAN cook a delicious, fast and dare I say healthy dinner in no time at all.

A few months ago I reviewed a George Foreman Evolve Grill. You can click on this link to read my original review, http://www.shescribes.com/2010/09/george-foreman-evolve-grill.html,

Since I received our Evolve grill I’d have to say we use it AT LEAST once or twice a week. I have found it handy for a variety of meals and even desserts. Its quick, easy and clean up is a snap.

One of my favorite things to do with the grill is to use it to bake cake. That’s right – I said BAKE cake. My George Foreman Evolve grill came with a pan insert that allows you to bake cake and brownies right in the grill. It turns out great too! You can only use 1/2 of the cake mix at a time, but that is fine with me. It allows me to create double layered cakes quickly and easily. The grill also bakes great brownies. They come out perfect every time.

I used the pan to make lasagna too. I have only made lasagna once before so I didn’t have much to compare it to. I think it turned out pretty good. My family gobbled it all up so I am pretty sure they liked it too.

I use the grill frequently to grill chicken, shrimp, pork and beef. I like that I don’t have to put much effort into cooking the. I just pop them on the grill, close the lid and let them cook for a specific time. I don’t have to worry about turning the meat over because it’s grilling equally on both sides.

I have also used the grill to make grilled cheese sandwiches and my version of  a panini sandwich. I am looking forward to left over turkey. I plan on putting the turkey and some cranberry on bread and grilling it in the Evolve. I am drooling just thinking about it. I think it will work out perfectly.

The Evolve grill that I have is now called the Evolve Grill Bake Mini-Burger. Mine came with two hash mark plates, the deep dish plate that I use to bake with and make lasagna and a slider (mini-burger) plate. I have yet to figure out how to make burgers, however I have used the plate to make mini-meatloaves which came out pretty good. I suppose I could use them as hamburgers too. I’m not sure what size roll to use.

What I really love about the George Foreman Evolve Grill is that its very versatile. The unit comes with four plates and additional plates are available including waffle plates, omelet & snack plate, griddle plate and cupcake/muffin plates. Eventually I’d like to have all the plates. If I did I’d probably use the Evolve grill more then our stove top.

With our family getting more and more busy during the holidays its comforting that I have the Evolve grill handy to whip up meals in a snap. I’m also thinking of ways to utilize it for the holidays. I’m thinking of using the deep dish pan to make corn bread instead of corn muffins. I can just slice the corn bread into individual slices and put it in the bread basket. I might also use it to bake another cake.

Here is some more great ideas using the George Foreman Evolve Grill.
