I L♥VE holiday music! There is a local radio station that plays holiday music 24/7 the day after Thanksgiving. I already have the channel programmed in my car. On my computer I have Pandora bookmarked on the holiday music channel. Between my husband and I we own more holiday CDs then we can count. We had Andy Williams, Andrea Bocelli, Burl Ives, Bing Crosby, Mannheim Steamroller, Charlie Brown Christmas and numerous movie soundtracks and holiday collections, just to name a few.
Some albums basically rehash the classic songs over and over again, which is fine with me as long as they either do the song justice or can put their own unique twist to the song without destroying it.
This holiday season I have a new CD to add to our collections. Its called “It’s Santa Claus!” and its by Ben Rudnick & Friends.
I have never heard of Ben Rudnick before but I welcomed the opportunity to review the CD since I adore holiday music.
It’s Santa Claus features many classic tunes including Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, Jingle Bells, Frost the Snowman, Here Comes Santa Claus, Auld Lang Syne, Greensleeves, Let it Snow and the title track It’s Santa Claus!
I was pleasantly surprised by the CD. I figured it would be OK but I never expected to truly enjoy it.
What makes this collection of holiday favorites is that Ben Rudnick and his friends added their own twist to the songs. The best way I can describe it is that some of the songs have a very 50′s feel to it. Like something you would hear on American Bandstand with Dick Clark. The tunes have a funky, upbeat music background complete with an organ, harmonica, accordian and mandolin.
This album is great for young people and those who are young at heart. I would certainly think this album would be enjoy just as much by your children as by you and other adults.
It’s Santa Claus! is available at Amazon, iTunes and the official Ben Rudnick website, www.BenRudnick.com.
How would you like to add this fun CD to your holiday collection? One lucky winner will win a copy of It’s Santa Claus! by Ben Rudnick and Friends.
