Blasting into a theater near you on March 11, 2011 is the newest Walt Disney Studios movie Mars Needs Moms. If you have been to the theater lately you might have caught the trailer. The trailer has also been shown on TV.
Here is the movie’s trailer in case you haven’t seen it yet.
I’ll also include the movie synopsis (below). I have seen the movie already and I will post my review on the day of it’s release (3-11-11).
Take out the trash, eat your broccoli—who needs moms, anyway? Nine-year-old Milo (Seth Green) finds out just how much he needs his mom (Joan Cusack) when she’s nabbed by Martians who plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young.
Produced by the team behind “Disney’s A Christmas Carol” and “The Polar Express,” “Mars Needs Moms” showcases Milo’s quest to save his mom—a wild adventure in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D that involves stowing away on a spaceship, navigating an elaborate, multi-level planet and taking on the alien nation and their leader (Mindy Sterling).
With the help of a tech-savvy, underground earth man named Gribble (Dan Fogler) and a rebel Martian girl called Ki (Elisabeth Harnois), Milo just might find his way back to his mom—in more ways than one.
Mars Needs Moms is based on the book by Berkeley Breathed. Breathed won a Pulitzer Prize for his comic strip Bloom County. He wrote and illustratd the book Mars Needs Moms. He was inspired by a moment of disagreement between his son Milo and his wife.
The movie is produced by Robert Zemeckis, who wrote, directed and produced Disney’s A Christmas Carol and The Polar Express. He is a pioneer in performance-capture film making. The process digitally captures the performances of the actors with computerized cameras in a full 360 degrees, allowing actors like Jim Carrey and Tom Hanks to play several roles of varying ages in one film, and for 36-year-old Seth Green to portray a 9-year-old in the movie Mars Needs Moms.

I think the Martians would like me because I am super organized and always have what my son wants in my purse when he needs it (runny nose? here’s a tissue. Super hungry? have a granola bar!). Also, I have a great ability to block out noise when needed

My Mom has a lot of special qualities. One is that she NEVER sits still, she is always doing something and it’s usually for someone else. Another one is she can save money like no one I have ever seen. The best quality is that she LOVES me, my brother, my daughter, and my Dad more than ANYTHING. She puts us first always. She would do anything for us. Why wouldn’t the martians want that. They need it, in order to figure out what LOVE is. mommy2rylie@ymail.com
