Movies on Demand ($25 Gift Card Giveaway)

The Oscars are less then one week away. I personally know someone who will be attending the Oscars this year and I am very excited for him (and jealous too!).

I’m very far behind on seeing the Oscar nominated films. So far I have only seen Toy Story 3 and The Social Network. My husband and I plan on watching Inception at some point this week (maybe tonight?). Since my kids are home on Winter break this week I’ll most likely watch How to Train Your Dragon with them.

If you are like me and you have yet to see many of the nominated films, and you happen to have cable, you can catch many of the nominated films on Movies on Demand (MOD).

Below is a selection of nominees now playing or soon available on cable TV’s Movies On Demand.  These are just a few highlights from the schedule of upcoming new titles. We’ll keep you posted as new titles become available.

The following films are current nominees.

The Social Network – rated PG-13, (Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Directing, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Sound Mixing). <— Weird movie. It had a lot of ups and downs. You didn’t know whether to hate Mark Zuckerberg, cheer him on or feel sorry for him.

The Kids Are All Right – Now playing, rated R, (Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay).

Inception – Now playing, rated PG-13 (Best Picture, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, Best Original Screenplay).

Toy Story 3 - Now playing, rated G (Best Picture, Best Animated Film, Best Original Song, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Sound Editing). <— GREAT movie!

How to Train Your Dragon -  Now playing, rated PG (Best Animated Film, Best Original Score).

The Town – Now playing, rated R(Best Supporting Actor).

Unstoppable – rated PG-13 (Best Sound Editing).

Salt – Now playing, rated PG-13 (Best Sound Mixing). <— My husband and I watched this the other night. It was good. We were lost in the beginning until we figured out what was going on.

Iron Man 2 – Now playing, PG-13 (Best Visual Effects). <— I haven’t even seen the first Iron Man yet.

Winter’s Bone – Now playing,  rated R (Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay).

With Movies On Demand through digital cable, viewers can watch movies instantly, pause, fast-forward and rewind.

*Title dates and availability may vary by system.

These movies are distributed to U.S. cable systems by iN DEMAND. For full listings, go to www.indemand.com, on-screen guides or cable system websites. Listings for Cable’s Movies On Demand can also be found at TVGuide.com (http://movies.tvguide.com/movies-on-demand).

There are plenty of other films that get nominated for awards but they don’t always get the audience that they deserve. Starting February 22, 2011 Movie On Demand will offer packages featuring this year’s nominated short films. The two packages are Best Animated Short Films and Best Live Action Short Films, in both HD and SD.  In addition to the nominees, the animated category includes three bonus titles.  These films are presented by Shorts International and distributed to cable by the nation’s leading Movies on Demand (MOD) distributor iN DEMAND L.L.C.

These shorts are now in limited release in theatres but will also be in many cable homes, starting on Feb. 22*, available with just a click of the remote. The content is listed as: “The 2011 Animated Nominated Shorts” or “The 2011 Live-Action Nominated Shorts.”  With Movies On Demand through digital cable, viewers can watch movies instantly, pause, fast-forward and rewind.

For more info about these films and trailers, go to: http://www.shortshd.com/theoscarshorts/

Movies on Demand is also having a contest on their Facebook page. It’s called the “How many have you seen?” poll. All you need to do is take the poll to see what movies you still need to see before the big night and how those results compare to your friends and others. There is a chance to win a 3D HDTV and other great prizes too! To take the poll and enter the contest please visit this page, http://www.facebook.com/moviesondemand?v=app_191244654236784.

If you were hit with a lot of snow like we were last night and find yourself snowed in, then this is a great time to check out what is new on Movies On Demand. There is still plenty of time to catch a few nominated films before Oscar night.
