A Delcious Way to Stay in Shape and Lose Weight

My weight has always been a struggle for me. I grew up as a chubby child, an overweight teen and an obese adult. I think I’m an expert at fad diets. I’ve done it all, from the cabbage soup diet to pills. I’ve even tried starvation and binging and purging. I don’t think there is anything I haven’t tried.

There are a few excellent weight loss programs, most of which I have tried too. One of the best plans in Weight Watchers. Weight Watchers lets you enjoy the foods that you love. There is no need to purchase pre-made foods. If you do like to have meals prepared for you, as in pre-weighed and measured so all you need to do is heat and enjoy, then Weight Watchers has plenty of meals for you to enjoy.

I purchase Weight Watchers products often, even if I am not whole-heartedly following the plan. I purchase them because I enjoy how they taste and I like the convenience. Knowing that they are a healthy option for me is an added bonus.

My favorite Weight Watchers products include Smart Ones Ziti, Smart Ones Vegetable and Meat Lasgnas, Smart Ones Swedish Meatballs and pretty much every dessert they offer.

Weight Watchers Smart Ones is constantly adding new products to their product line so there is always something new and tasty to try.

I’m not much of a breakfast eater. I will order breakfast at a diner, such as Eggs Benedict, but at home I rather eat non-traditional breakfast foods like soup or a PB&J sandwich. I guess it’s because I’m bored of the same old cereal or oatmeal that I have had more times then I care to count.

My husband picks up some breakfast burritos on occasion from the grocery store. They taste great but they are essentially a heart attack on a plate when you check out the fat, calories and cholesterol.

Weight Watchers Smart Ones has their own breakfast burrito that blows the other one out of the water! It’s called Smart Ones Breakfast Express Egg, Sausage and Cheese Wrap.

Inside the box you’ll find two servings. Each serving consists of two wraps. They quickly heat up in the microwave in a minute and a half.

OH MY GOODNESS! I am head-over-heels in love with these wraps! They may look kind of boring but what they lack in appearance they make up in taste – and then some! They are also very filling. I didn’t think they would satisfy my appetite enough. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they did.

Even though these are considered “breakfast” foods I have had them for lunch as well. They go GREAT with salsa! After I warm them up in the microwave I top them with a spoonful of salsa and enjoy. Salsa has very little calories since its mostly vegetables.

My family enjoys Weight Watchers Smart Ones too. My son loves the Egg, Sausage and Cheese Wraps too. My daughter didn’t really like them and my husband has yet to try them.

Another new breakfast available from Weight Watchers Smart Ones is French Toast with Turkey Sausage. It even comes with a package of maple syrup.

I didn’t think I would like turkey sausage but I do. It takes like regular sausage, except the turkey sausage is a better option.

The French Toast and Turkey Sausage breakfast comes with two nice size slices of Fresh Toast with cinnamon swirled in the middle. It also comes with four small bite size Turkey Sausages. The included maple syrup is optional. If you opt to use the syrup you can easily warm it up in a cup of hot water as you are microwaving the breakfast.

This breakfast is a family favorite. Everyone in my family enjoys the French Toast and Turkey Sausage breakfast. As a busy mom I don’t often have a chance to make things like sausages or French Toast every morning. We save things like sausages for the weekend when we have more time. My kids LOVE that they can enjoy sausage on a school morning with this breakfast. It’s also nice that they can make it themselves in a minute and a half.

I didn’t think that the French Toast would microwave OK. I find that when you microwave bread-like products they tend to get hard or chewy. I didn’t find that to be the case with this breakfast.

I am now more likely to have breakfast in the morning with tasty meals like French Toast with Turkey Sausage and Egg, Sausage and Cheese Wraps. I could easily eat them every day, but I won’t. I’ll still continue to enjoy scrambled egg whites, oatmeal and cereal too.

The French Toast with Turkey Sausage has 280 calories, high in protein and contains 8 grams Whole Grains. The Egg, Sausage and Cheese Wrap has 240 calories, is also high in Protein and also has 8 grams Whole Grains.

If you have never tried Weight Watchers desserts before I would recommend that you do. They do not taste like “diet” foods at all. I have tried many different Weight Watchers desserts and I have never come across one I didn’t like. The Chocolate Eclairs and Brownie Ala Mode are SO GOOD!

Weight Watchers Smart Ones has two new desserts added to their menu, Turtle Sundae and Chocolate Fudge Brownie Sundae.

I love chocolate turtles so I was excited to give the Turtle Sundae a try. It has only 130 calories and 3 grams of fat which is a lot less then having a few traditional Turtles. I looked up my favorite Turtle candies, Demet’s Turtles, and two pieces contain 10 grams of fat and 170 calories.

The Turtle Sundae contains low-fat vanilla flavored ice cream over a praline flavored cookie crust, topped with caramel sauce, chocolate chunks, and pecans. To be honest it took me a few spoonfuls to decide if I liked this flavor or not. The first few bites I was not very fond of it but then it grew on me a bit. I like it, but it’s probably my least favorite of all the Weight Watchers Smart Ones desserts. I think it’s the caramel sauce that I don’t really like. The vanilla ice cream is the same as in other Weight Watchers desserts and the praline crust you don’t taste until you get to the bottom of the bowl. The caramel sauce is drizzled on top that is why I think its the caramel that throws the taste off.

Both of my kids tried the Turtle Sundae and neither one of them liked it. My husband won’t try it because he doesn’t like pecans. I told him to try it and just pick them off but he chose not to.

If given the opportunity I most likely wouldn’t buy the Turtle Sundae again. But that doesn’t mean others won’t like it. My mom always said “One man’s meat is another man’s poison”.

I LOVE the Chocolate Fudge Brownie Sundae! I especially love the fudge sauce and the chunks of brownies on top. My husband and both of my kids love this dessert too.

My husband usually has cereal bowls filled with ice cream. It was a shock to his system to see the Weight Watchers dessert which are considered a normal portion size. One night he took TWO of the Chocolate Fudge Brownie Sundaes (there are two per package) thinking he could eat both of them with no problem. After he finished one he realized he was wrong and could barely finish half of the other sundae. Now that he learned his lesson he’ll only grab for one.

Seeing the portion size of these Sundaes has been a real eye opener for my kids too who also tend to serve themselves too much ice cream. My son even washed out one of the Smart Ones Sundae bowls and said he will use that the next time he serves himself ice cream so he knows how much he should have. That is pretty smart thinking for an 11 year old.

The Chocolate Fudge Brownie Sundae has 140 Calories and 2.5 grams of fat and is 100% delicious!

I have several packages of the products I reviewed in this post which I gave to a few people that I know. I am waiting to hear back from them on what they think about them. I will update this post with quotes from them about the new products.

You can find Weight Watchers Smart Ones products at most grocery stores across the country. Product availability varies. I had a difficult time finding these products in the store. Since they are new they are not yet available in all locations.

I never had these before but they look really good. Especially the French Toast, I hate it when it gets all chewy too.
