I know many readers can relate to having a bad hair day (even guys have bad hair days). You try really hard to look your best but no matter what you do you hair ends up looking horrible (in your eyes anyway) and it pretty much ruins your whole morning. Thankfully there are usually ways to correct the situation (ponytail, hair clips, hats…). But what do you do if you wake up in the morning and have a bad SKIN day?
Many people suffer from a variety of skin problems including acne, eczema, wrinkles and age spots. Other people suffer from a skin problem known as Rosacea.
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes inflammation on your cheeks, chin, eyelids and/or forehead. It causes the skin to get red and blotchy and might even appear to be swollen at times. Rosacea happens mostly in very fair skinned people and the onset usually happens between the ages of 30-50. People with Rosacea tend to blush easily too.
Guess what? I suffer from Rosacea. I’ve had it for about five or six years now. Thankfully it seems to mostly effect my cheeks. Mine is not an extreme case (thankfully). I have seen people with Rosacea have so many red spots that they look like their face has been burned. I can usually cover mine up with some creative make up application. I like to use mineral make up (cover up) because it’s lighter and doesn’t aggravate my skin. The irony is that sometimes I have to use blush because I’m so pale.
This whole post is not just about Rosacea. Read on for a great contest opportunity!
Rosacea isn’t always a daily issue. For me it comes and goes. Certain things trigger the Rosacea to be more prominent then other times. Some triggers include hot baths, cold weather, exercise, sweating, stress and skin products. Personally my Rosacea usually makes its appearance in the warmer weather, especially if I’ve been out in the sun. I wear sunscreen year round, even in the Winter. Facial products (cleansers, make up, lotions) can also trigger an outbreak. I have to be careful with the products I use. They cannot be harsh. I have to use products that are very gentle.
I would take a picture of my skin right now but I’ve been using these products for a little over a week now (facial cleaner, toner, lotion…) and they are doing a great job of not bothering the Rosacea. Right now there are only small areas on both cheeks (mostly my right cheek).
If you Google Rosacea you’ll find a lot of images so that you can have a better understanding of what it really looks like. There is no cure for Rosacea but it can be controlled.
