I try and cook our meals from scratch whenever possible. Sometimes I have to rely on pre-made meals. I also opt for pre-made meals if its something I don’t have the time or the skill to prepare myself.
I love Italian foods. My mother in law used to cook all her meals from scratch, right down to the gravy/sauce. I wish she was able to pass on some of her recipes before she passed away.
Italian food is my favorite. I love pasta. Meals like Baked Ziti, Lasagna, Pasta Fagioli, and Italian Wedding Soup are some of my all time favorites. Baked Ziti and Pasta Fagioli are easy to make. I have yet to find the recipe for Italian Wedding Soup and Lasagna seems like it would take way too long to prepare and cook.
My family and I recently had the opportunity to try Lasagna from Michael Angelo’s. Michael Angelo’s makes gourmet Italian Cuisine that can go from the freezer to your table.
Michael Angleo’s gourmet Italian meals are made using only the natural, wholesome ingredients, the kind you would find in an authentic Italian kitchen. They use only 100% premium meats, authentic Italian cheeses, 100% durum wheat semolina pasta, fresh herbs and spices, fresh vegetables, and specially selected, vine-ripened tomatoes. Another words they make meals like your mother or grandmother used to make, or in my case my mother in law.
Michael Angelo’s meals are made from scratch and by hand, as seen in a recent episode of Unwrapped, as seen in the video below.
Just watching the video makes my mouth drool!
My family and I tried out the Micheal Angelo’s Meat Lasagna.
On a side note I had every intention of taking photos of the Lasagna once it was cooked and on our dinner plates. I was able to take a picture of the food tray that I placed on a cookie sheet while it was still frozen. I went to lie down because I was not feeling well. My husband took care of dinner for me. I forgot to ask him to take pictures for me. When he told me to come to the table because dinner was ready I found the Lasagna all over my plate. Another words the presentation was not something worth photographing. My idea was to cut a perfect piece and place it ever so gently on my plate and then take the picture. My husband literally slopped the slices on all of our plates. By the time I got to the dinner table my kids have already made a mess of their plates.
Here is the meal fresh out of the fridge. You have to put it on a cookie sheet and bake in the over for 3o minutes (with the cover on) at 400 degrees. After 30 minutes remove the cover and bake another 10 minutes. We followed the directions exactly but found the Lasagna was only lukewarm at best. We ended up cooking it for another 15 minutes. To be on the safe side plan on it taking closer to an hour to cook the Lasagna.
The Lasagna wasn’t as “firm” as my mother in law made it but it was still totally delish. My family inhaled it – literally! I think if they could have licked the plates clean they would have. Ha Ha.
We served it with salad and some Italian bread.
One box of Michael Angelo’s Lasgna serves 4 people. My husband could have ate one who tray on his own. LOL!
The Lasagna had a bit of a kick to it. It wasn’t spicy but it was seasoned. It reminded me of Lasagna you could get from a fancy Italian restaurant. Had the presentation been better (if my husband didn’t just flop the slices on the plates) it could have passed for a gourmet meal from a fine Italian restaurant.
My entire family gives Micheal Angelo’s Meat Lasagna two thumbs up (each!).
My mother in law used to CRINGE when she came to our home for dinner. I would make pasta from a box and use jarred sauce. I think if she was still alive and had the opportunity to try out the Michael Angelo’s Meat Lasagna she would have been very pleased.
Other available meals from Michael Angelo’s include Shrimp Scampi, Manicotti with Sauce, Chicken with Creamy Garlic, Eggplant Parmesan and Chicken Piccata to name a few.
