Morning Star Corn Dogs – Not Your Average Dog

Last night for dinner my kids wanted me to make them Morning Star Corn Dogs. They saw them in the freezer and asked if I could make them with dinner. They made for an “odd” side dish but my kids really wanted to try them. They love corn dogs at the county fair and were excited to have them at home. Little did my kids know, these were no ordinary corn dogs.

Morning Start Corn Dogs are not made like regular corn dogs. The Morning Star Corn Dogs contain no meat. They are made from vegetables. They look like the same corn dogs we get at the county fair and they smell like regular corn dogs. For all my kids knew they were the same corn dogs we would buy them at the fair.

I didn’t want to tell my kids up front that the corn dogs were made out of vegetables and not meat (or whatever real dogs are made from). I was concerned that if I told them upfront they wouldn’t try them. So I let them go on thinking they were regular corn dogs.

The Morning Star Corn Dogs were really easy to prepare. We just popped them in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. After 10 minutes I rolled them around so that they would brown evenly.

My kids gobbled up the corn dogs just like they do at the fair. My husband was dying to tell them they dog were not made with meat.

I asked my son if he liked the corn dogs. He said “yes” and made some snarky comment about how he wouldn’t have eaten the entire thing if he didn’t like it (ahh ’tweenagers!).

I asked my daughter the same thing and she said it was good. I asked her if it tasted like a regular hot dog and she said “no”. I then asked her what it tasted like and she said that it was probably a turkey dog or chicken dog. She said she knew it was a hot dog but she could tell it was not a beef hot dog. Imagine her surprise when I told her there was no meat involved at all. Her jaw dropped to the ground!

I took a bite of my son’s corn dog to try it for myself. I tend to agree iwth my daughter. It takes a lot like a turkey dog. I try and buy turkey dogs for my kids because they are a healthier option then beef hot dogs. I can see why my daughter suspected that is what she was eating.

The Morning Star Corn Dogs are a much healthier option then the average Corn Dog.

Clearly the Morning Star Corn Dogs are a much healthier option. They are also made from vegetables making this an ideal snack or lunch for vegetarians or those watching what they eat.

I asked my kids if they would eat the Morning Star Corn Dogs again and they both said “yes”.

I’m shocked and amazed that Morning Star was able to make something so iconic and recognizable as a hot dog/corn dog into a healthier, better-for-you option.

Morning Star Corn Dogs are available at grocery stores across the country.
