I have two children, a daughter and a son. It has been my experience that there a lot more cute outfits and fun accessories for little girls then little boys. When my daughter was younger she had drawers upon drawers of adorable outfits. I even had hair bows, clips and socks to match. It was fun putting together different looks, complete with accessories. When it came to my son it was harder to come up with as many looks. I was also unable to find any cute accessories except for some baseball hats.
My kids are older now (sigh… I miss the younger years). Even now there are so many things for my daughter, but not as much for my son. Take for example jewelry. I don’t have to tell anyone how much jewelry is available for women, teens and girls. Bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings… and much more. I know that there is jewelry available for men and teens, but not so much for boys.
Who says that boys don’t like to wear jewelry? It’s not a “girly” thing. Boys like “bling” too. My son loves to wear rubber bracelets. It started wtih this shaped rubber bracelets (the ones that came in shapes like sports, animals, number… they were all the rage last year). Now that he’s over the shaped bracelets he’s looking for something a bit more grown up. Needless to say there are not too many options out there.
A company called Ladybugs and Lullabies has a great accessory made just for young boys. They are called Cool Cuffs. Cool Cuffs are made out of a thick, cotton material and feature a snap closure making it easy for young boys to get on and off. Cool Cuffs are also available in great BOY designs. Sorry girls… Cool Cuffs are for the boys. 🙂
Ladybugs and Lullabies sent me a Cool Cuff to try out with my son. They sent us the Golden Dragon design Cool Cuff. The black cuff features a dragon stitched on the cuff with a shiny, golden thread.
My son loved it. It was a nice change of pace from the rubber (silicone?) bracelets that he’s been wearing. He especially liked the “grown up” design. There is nothing “cute” (or “girly”) about it. I personally feel if the cuff was made in a larger size teen boys would wear them too.
Cool Cuffs are small in size. The cuff barely fit on my son, but he was able to get it on (it was snug). I would say Cool Cuffs are better sized for younger boys (maybe 7 and under?).
The cuff are made very well. Boys are always so rough on their things. Cool Cuffs will outlast even the most “rough and tumble” kind of boy.
Check out a few of the other available designs.
I love the flame one. I think that would be perfect for a little boy who is totally into the movies Cars and Cars 2 (Lightening McQueen!).
Cool Cuffs sell for $8 each. Considering how much a rubber/silicon bracelet costs it’s not a bad price at all.
Ladybugs and Lullabies also carries cute accessories for girls. I LOVE the hair clips! They are adorable. I wish my daughter was little again so I could put these in her hair. There is no way my teen daughter would do that now (not even to indulge her dear old mom – ha ha).
Check out some of the sweet designs. I LOVE the Minnie Mouse ones.
They even have holiday/seasonal designs too.

Oh, I really love the Minnie ones too! Unfortunately, my girls just don’t like Mickey Mouse Club House that much. I have to say that I don’t care for it like the classic Mickey and Minnie cartoons either, so can’t blame them.
