My husband and children have been big fans of the book series Diary of a Wimpy Kid ever since the books made their way to the book shelves. Personally I have never read the books. My kids and my husband fight over who gets to read the new book first (my husband always wins of course). We have every Wimpy Kid book that has been published so far. I love how my kids get excited over the book series.
A couple of years ago there was a Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie. We saw it. It was good. It was an ideal family movie night kind of movie.
New to DVD and Blu-ray is the newest addition to the Wimpy Kid series, the second film called Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules. I was far more impressed with this movie then I was the original Wimpy Kid film. Roderick Rules is full of laughs. My entire family was cracking up with laughter throughout the movie.
In this movie Greg’s mother writes a parenting column for the local paper. Determined to get Greg and his older brother Rodrick to get a long their mother comes up with a lot of ideas that are suppose to promote brotherly love, including “Mom Bucks”.
Tired of their constant bickering the parents leave the boys home alone for the weekend. Like most teenage boys Roderick sees this as an opportunity to throw a wild party with his band, Löded Diper (Loaded Diaper). When all attempts at getting rid of Greg fails, Roderick allows Greg and his best friend Rowley to stay at the party. Things get pretty crazy at the party including a door that gets destroyed and photo evidence of the party that will later come back to get the boys into more trouble.
As someone who constantly fought with her older sister (my version of Roderick) I can totally relate to a lot of this movie. Although nothing happened to me and my sister that was nearly as funny as what happens to Greg and Roderick.
In this movie Greg has a crush on a new girl at school name Holly Hills. Every time Greg tries to impress Holly something embarrassing happens to him.
I really don’t want to go into specific details about the movie because this is one you really should see for yourself. I liked this movie a million times better then the original Wimpy Kid movie. My whole family couldn’t stop laughing. It was one silly thing after another. I could have done without the “poop” scene.
The character Rowley is hilarious. He really makes the movie. He’s adorable and I love his sweet innocence.
Here is a trailer for the movie.
As you can see this movie is filled with non-stop laughter.
You can purchase Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules where ever DVDs and Blu-rays are sold.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid is written by Jeff Kinney. The first book was published in 2007. The most recent book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth, was published in November 2010. A new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book called Cabin Fever will be released in November 2011. We can’t wait! That is another Wimpy Kid book we need to add to our collection.
You can keep up to date on more Wimpy Kid news on the official website, www.WimpyKid.com. There are even a couple of games you and play there (Wimpy Kid related of course) and other fun things. The “Touch the Cheese” game is hard!

I think my comment disappeared. Hope it doesn’t post twice.
I’m glad you put the dates in there because I thought my daughter was reading this series. But she passed away in 2004 so obviously it wasn’t her.
But I know I”ve seen these books around….

We loved both of the movies. We only have read the first book. My daughter is a huge reader, but she reads encyclopedias and nonfiction animal book mostly. I really wish she’d read more fiction.
