I adore Strawberry Shortcake. I can’t believe she’s been around so long! I remember playing with Strawberry Shortcake dolls when I was younger. If I remember correctly I think my doll even smelled like Strawberries. I had a few dolls from the collection and I believe they all had a scent.
Strawberry Shortcake has changed a lot over the years. When I was younger Strawberry Shortcake has rag doll hair and freckles. Now she is much more “modern” looking. She’s still cute but I prefer the Strawberry Shortcake version I grew up with.
Did you know that American Greetings has a website dedicated to beloved cartoon characters, including Strawberry Shortcake? The is called the AGKidZone (www.AGKidZone.com). There you can find coloring pages, games, activities and more. Other beloved characters found on the site include Care Bears and Holly Hobby, to name a few.
AGKidZone is having “berry” special coloring contest. Simply print out the FREE coloring sheet and ask your child to not only color it in but also to draw how their summer has been going so far. For example, if your child has been having a great time camping this summer they could draw themselves camping in the background. Or if your family has been enjoying the dog days of summer lounging on the beach your child could incorporate Strawberry Shortcake into a beach scene.
Once the coloring page is completed, scan it and then upload it on the AGKidZone website. If you don’t have a scanner you could take a photo of it with your digital camera and then upload it to the site. Once the coloring page is uploaded your child will be entered in the How Sweet is Your Summer coloring contest. Entries will be considered for a weekly prize of Strawberry Shortcake toys, DVDs, school supplies and more, valued at $75.00. How “berry sweet” is that!
Winners will be chosen weekly for five weeks with the first winner chosen on August 15, 2011. The winner’s names and drawings will be posted on the website for everyone to see. If you enter please check back weekly to see if you won.
Guess what? Yours truly will be one of the weekly judges too! I believe I will be the official judge for the first week of the contest. I’m excited! I can’t wait to see all the wonderful entries. I hope to see some of my readers enter.
