Go Back to School with Bailey by Harry Bliss (Giveaway)

Most children across the country have either started back at school already or will be this coming week. My kids go back to school on Thursday which is pretty silly because that means they have two days of school then they are off for two days. Why not start on Wednesday like they normally do or wait until next Monday.

I’m sure many young girls and boys are anxious about either starting school for the first time or returning to school. I remember being a bundle of nerves, not knowing what to expect.

What if you were a dog? Would a dog be anxious going to school? What exactly would a dog do at school all day?

Introducing Bailey. Bailey is a character created by Harry Bliss. In his book, Bailey, we are introduced to an adorable dog name Bailey. Bailey is no ordinary dog. He goes to school right along side his human friends.

Here is a brief synopsis of the book…

Meet Bailey, a dog who surprises and charms his fellow human classmates with his irrepressible antics. In this funny  new book from the best selling children’s illustrator Harry Bliss, school provides to be an unexpected place for Bailey to do all sorts of things he loves including reading, fetching, digging, singing, painting and of course making friends.

Throughout the book you follow Bailey as he does his classwork, especially for his favorite subject Math, enjoys lunch with his friends and has fun in gym class. Along the way we are reminded that Bailey is still a dog who likes to dig holes and dive into the garbage can looking for scraps.

I thought Bailey was an adorable book. Many children can relate to a typical day at school with Bailey. From trying not to miss the bus in the morning to looking forward to coming home.

The illustrations are really sweet and charming. I think Bailey is absolutely adorable.

The only problem for Bailey is that he can’t tell the teacher the dog ate his homework. Ha ha ha. :-)

Check out this sweet video about Bailey and the book. I think Bailey would make a cute cartoon series too.

Bailey is published through Scholastic books and is recommended for ages 3 and up. This would make a fun bedtime story. It’s also a nice easy reader for older children, perhaps 5 or 6 and up.
