Challenge Butter “Real Heritage Recipe Contest”

I know that a lot of “foodies” read my blog. I also know that many people who might not consider themselves a “foodie” enjoy cooking and being creative in the kitchen.

I love creating recipes. It’s fun to put things together, which might not normally go, to see what you can come up with.

When I was a young adult (pre-marriage days) and I had my own apartment I lived alone. I used to create recipes all the time. I would take whatever left overs I had and any other ingredient I had on hand to see what I could come up with. Sometimes my creation was totally delicious. Other times it ended up in the garbage after the first bite.

Challenge Butter, which is regionally distributed, is having a recipe contest I think some of my readers would be really interested in. It’s called the Real Heritage Recipe Contest.

Unlike other contests there will be FOUR grand prize winners in this contest. All four grand prize winners will receive $500 worth of Good Cook cookware (valued at $500) and $2,500 in CASH! That’s an awesome prize.

In addition there will be 12 finalists. The finalists will each receive $250 worth of Good Cook products.

Entering is very easy. Simply visit (and “like”) the Challenge Butter Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/ChallengeButter). Then upload your best family recipes and share with others how and why these recipes have become a part of your family’s tradition.

We all have special recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation, or recipes that remind you of special events or occasions in your family. For example, my mom would bake Pineapple Upside Down cake for special occasions. My great-grandfather made the most amazing scones which everyone in the family has tried to mimic but no one has capture the same scone recipe as our great-grandfather. Whenever I have scones I always think of him.

Sunday gravy is an tradition in my husband’s family. I wish my mother in law would have showed me how to make it before she passed away.

Cornbeef and cabbage is another recipe I wish I was able to get from my mother in law. She made it every St. Patrick’s day, even though she was 100% Italian. LOL!

Ideally the recipes you submit should utilize Challenge Butter. :-) After all it is their recipe contest.

Even if you can’t think of a yummy recipe to enter you can still check out all the other entries. Let me forewarn you – they are “drool worthy”.

One of my favorite submitted recipes is the Buttery Caramel Sauce submitted by David D. of Cambridge, MA. Mormor’s Swedish Cardamon Bread submitted by KC Q. of North Venice, FL also looks so good! There is even a recipe for a Grill Macaroni and Cheese Sandwich, by Amber S. of Rocklin CA that I’m going to have to try myself.

If you would like to check out the submitted recipes (perhaps they will provide you with some inspiration) please visit http://Heritage.ChallengeDairy.com/Recipes.

If you need help finding Challenge Butter to incorporate into your recipe to enter the contest please visit  http://ChallengeDairy.com/Where-to-Buy .

If you enter – GOOD LUCK! Leave me a comment too so I can go and check out your recipe.
