When it comes to eating healthy and losing weight many people (myself included) struggle. I know there are more diets available then I can count, but what it boils down to is making healthier choices, eating in moderation and exercise. Of course that is easier said then done, especially when there are so many delicious temptations out there. Going into the holiday season there are even MORE temptations. That is why trying to lose weight during the holidays is nearly impossible. However that doesn’t mean that you can’t opt for more healthier options.
It’s a lot easier then you think to cut out some extra fat and calories out of your diet without feeling deprived. All you need to do is learn the fine art of swapping.
Here are a few examples.
Swap 1/4th of a cup of raisins for a cup and a half of grapes. Believe it or not you will save 100 calories. Plus all those grapes are more filling and satisfying.
Swap microwave popcorn for air popped popcorn. You can eat MORE of the air popped popcorn because it doesn’t have the same fat and calories as microwave popcorn. Just don’t add fat (butter) to it.
Swap cream based soups for both based soups. This will also help you to save some fat and calories since cream based soups tend to be higher in fat and calories.
Swap white pasta for whole wheat pasta. It’s a much healthier option for you.
By making just a few small changes (swapping one thing for another) can really make a huge difference over time.

You can also swap your way to fabulous with the following tips from fashion guru, host of the Style Network’s “How Do I Look?” and correspondent for NBC’s upcoming series “Fashion Star,” Jeannie Mai.
- Swap the bus for a 15 minute walk on the way home, and you can save 60 calories
- Boost your confidence in seconds by swapping more low-key flats for a pair of colorful heels.
- Expand your wardrobe without breaking the bank by swapping clothes and accessories with your girlfriends.
These are great tips and easy enough for anyone to do. Best of all it doesn’t have to “break the bank” or you have to go out and purchased unnecessary supplies and equipment. I think in the long run swapping high calorie dessertst and treats with Yoplait Light Yogurt will actually save money in the long run.
