Here is an interesting fact. Windex, America’s #1 glass cleaner, has been around for 75 years! Wow!
My mom used to use Windex. In fact that is all she ever used to clean all the windows and mirrors in our home. It goes without saying that when I got married and moved into my own home I continued the tradition and used Windex to clean our windows and mirrors too. In fact, if you asked me to name another window cleaner, other then a generic store brand, I honestly couldn’t give you another name. As far as I’m concerned there is only ONE window cleaner – and that is Windex.
Did you know that Windex named an “American Ideal” in an article about the “100 Greatest Things About America”, that ran in Fortune magazine. I believe it! Windex has stood the test of time and is just as effective giving your windows a streak free shine as it did decades ago. That is why it’s such an iconic American brand, because so many people have grown to love and trust it.
Windex can actually be considered a family tradition in a way. My mom used Windex (and I’m pretty sure my grandmother did), I use Windex and I have no doubt my kids will use Windex too. That is because like me, that is the only window and mirror cleaner my kids have known.
To celebrate Windex’s 75th Birthday the company is taking a trip down “memory lane” on it’s Facebok page. Windex is asking people to post on their wall and share their family’s tradition of using Windex for all their streak-free cleaning needs.
Windex sent me some of their products to review. It’s sort of silly because I use Windex all the time, however I only use the original Windex. I also received a bottle of Windex Multi-Surface cleaner and the Windex Electronic Wipes. I have never tried either of those before.
I like the Multi-Surface cleaner because it gave me more options. I could use the clean on things other then simply windows and mirrors. I used it on the fridge, the stove top and in the bathroom on the tile walls. It cleaned well (although most of the tiles in the shower need a sandblaster more so then cleaner. Sigh…). I found that I frequently used it more so around the kitchen on the counters and stove especially. Both have shiny surfaces and the Windex Multi-Surface cleaner did a good job of cleaning without leaving a smudgy residue behind.
I love the electronics wipes! They are so handy to have. Normally I clean off the computer monitors and TV’s with a squirt of Windex on a soft paper towel. That means having to lug the spray bottle and roll of towels all over the home. With the wipes there is nothing more to carry but the wipe it’s self. I’ve found that one wipe goes a long way and I can clean almost every monitor with just one wipe (we have a total of four laptops and a desktop in my home). Not only are the wipes convenient they also do a great job, especially on my kid’s laptops which tend to get filthy. I wish I knew what the kids did to them!
In honor of Windex’s special 75ht birthday I have a Windex giveaway for a lucky reader. Windex will send the winner all the products mentioned in this post (Original, Multi-Surface and Electronics Wipes). These are all full size products too (not samples). Thank you Windex.
