What kind of holiday shopper are YOU? ($50 Visa Gift Card Giveaway)

I always envy people who are DONE with their holiday shopping long before Thanksgiving. I used to be that way. In fact I used to be done holiday shopping by the end of September. That is because I would shop all year long. It was much easier to buy for my kids when they were little because they didn’t care about what was the “must have” toy of the season. They just wanted fun toys. Thankfully fun toys can be found year round.

As my kids got older it was harder to do most of my pre-holiday shopping because the kids would constantly change their minds about what they wanted for Christmas.

Now that my kids are much older it’s really impossible to shop early for them. My son for example. He doesn’t know if he wants a fish or a new bike. Both can cost around $100 (a decent tank and all the supplies is $$$). He keeps changing his mind. My daughter on the other hand usually wants clothes, shoes and bags. I could pre-shop for her but her tastes change from one minute to the next. One day she’s into Zebra prints, the next day it’s all about the color purple.

These days I’m scrambling up until the very last minute buying gifts for my family. I would prefer not to but that is how it worked out. Meanwhile others are completely done and able to enjoy each and every second of the holiday season.

My mom used to shop year round for gifts. In fact she kept a collection fo gifts under her bed to cover any last minute gifts she might need. She also had gifts for children on hand too in case I was invited to a birthday party.

My mom would stock up on things she found on sale too. For example if she found a great sale on ladies gloves she’d be several of them so she had something she could give to a friend or use as a “Secret Santa” gift.

What kind of holiday shopper are YOU?

Visa has put together an easy quiz that helps you to determine what kind of holiday shopper you are. I took the test. I’m a “Crusin’ Caroler. The quiz told me that I love the joy of giving the perfect gift but I don’t love the stress of finding the perfect gift. For me, gift giving is just one part of the holiday to conquer so the rest of the season can be enjoyed.

Not only does the test tell me what kind of shopper I am (it was pretty accurate too), it also gives suggestions to help make the holiday season a little more “merry and bright”. For example, it was suggest that I don’t over complicate my gift list. According to the 2011 Visa Gift Giving Survey, 78 percent of survey respondents said they would rather receive a Visa Gift card over a gift card for a specific store or restaurant this holiday season. I believe that. I normally give gift cards to my niece and nephew because I’m always at a loss as to what to get them, especially my nephew. What exactly do you get a 16 year old boy?

The website also offers some helpful tips and suggestions to make gift giving a lot easier this year.

Visa would like to make a lucky readers gift giving a little easier with a $50.00 Visa Gift Card. Thank you Visa!
