Artistry Time Defiance Skincare System from Amway ($270 Value Giveaway – 3 Winners)

We’re now entering a brand new year. It’s a great time to develop some positive changes in your life. Some people vow to eat healthy and lose weight. Others plan on kicking an unhealthy habit. Many people also like to set personal goals they would like to accomplish in the new year.

Now that the stress of the holiday season is over, and a new year has begun, it’s a great time to think about something that is often neglected – your skin. During the hustle and bustle of the season, how often have you thought about your skin? I know I sure haven’t. To be honest with you it’s not even something I would really think about. The only time I really give my skin care regime any thought is when I develop a pimple or notice a new wrinkle (blah!).

I always love to try out new skin care products. It’s great to see what other products are on the market aside from the kind I pick up from the local drug store.

I had the opportunity to try out the Artistry Time Defiance Skincare System, as well as the Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel. It’s sold through Amway (www.Amway.com) and local independent Amway representatives. My father and stepmother are big fans of Amway products. They purchase many products through the company.

Artistry is by Amway and is on of the world’s top five largest selling premium skincare brands. Artistry offers unprecedented skin care solutions backed by dermatologist testing, advanced science, unparalleled proof of performance and personalized service unmatched by any beauty counter in the world.

This sounded really exciting to me so I was thrilled when the package of Artistry products arrived at my door. I couldn’t wait to get started using them.

I received the following products.

ARTISTRY TIME DEFIANCE Skincare System (Cleanser, Toner, AM & PM Moisturizers).

 -   Time Defiance improves your skin’s firmness, smoothness and luminosity, and increases hydration by 181% by using smart technology to deliver extra hydration where your skin needs it most.

-  Time Defiance products are dermatologist approved and clinically proven to reduce signs of aging.

 ARTISTRY Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel

The peel serves as an at-home alternative to a chemical peel and is appropriate for all skin types.

-  It’s a targeted resurfacing treatment that helps skin’s smoothness and softness with dryness and flakes virtually eliminated. Radiance is restored, and over time, fine lines and age spots begin to fade and skin becomes firmer-feeling with smaller-looking pores.

In total I received five products – the peel and the Artistry Time Defiance Skincare System

I LOVE the facial cleanser! Of all the products that is probably my most favorite. It is very gentle and smells so good! The scent actually reminds me of something you would use on a baby. It has a soft, pleasant and dare I say – comforting scent to it. I also love how my skin feels after I use it. My skin actually feels CLEAN. Sometimes facial cleansers leave residues on your skin which causes you skin not to feel as fresh and clean as it should. This cleanser made my skin feel so clean that I hesitated to wear make up because I enjoyed that fresh and clean feeling.

The toner was nice. I don’t normally use a toner. I don’t get the appeal. I mean, I really don’t notice much of a difference when I use a toner or not. Often toners are rather harsh and burn my skin too. The Artistry toner was gentle. I liked that. I used it as part of the system but I didn’t notice much of a difference.

I also received AM and PM moisturizer. I’m rather picky about moisturizers because I don’t like anything on my skin that is goint to make it feel weighed down. I also don’t like how some moisturizers make your skin feel greasy, especially PM moisturizers. I hate having to wash my face the moment I get up in the morning because my face feels greasy.

The AM moisturizer also has SPF 15 which is great.

I did not notice that greasy feeling with either of these moisturizers. They didn’t make my skin feel weighed down either.

I used the products in the AM and PM. I liked how my skin felt so much that I went without make up. I normally don’t wear much  make up to begin with but I hated the idea of weighing my face down with make up when it felt fresh and clean. It also leaves your face feeling soft.

I was a bit weary to try the Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel. I was concerned it would bother my skin. My skin tends to be sensitive. I used it twice a week (as per the directions). It didn’t bother my skin at all. As it is with the cleaner my skin felt so clean that I didn’t want to put anything on it – even the toner and moisturizers! But I did because that is part of the program.

I had a wee bit of a problem – UNREALTED to the Artistry products. My eye lids became swollen and burned as well as itched like crazy. I wasn’t sure what could have caused it. At first I was concerned it was the Artistry products. Then I thought maybe it was my mascara. It’s a couple of months old and could have gone bad which could have triggered the allergic reaction. THANKFULLY I figured out what it was. I have an allergic reaction to a new household cleaner that I just started to use a few weeks ago. I figured out that is what it was when I started to use it and my eyes got very itchy. Even my face started to feel itchy.

I’m glad I figured it out because I wanted to get back to using the products.

I haven’t had a chance to use them long enough to see a big difference. The only difference I’ve noticed so far is how clean and soft my skin feels when I use the products. I am very pleased with them. They are a million times better then the drug store products I use.

Journal 10 – A unique way to document your life

I meant to post about this amazing journal a while back, but thanks to that not-so-lovely incident with my former website host, everything I had scheduled to post got all messed up. Sigh…

In just a few days it will be the start of a brand new year. There is so much to look forward to. There is also a lot to look back and reflect upon.

2011 started off like any other year. Little did I know that just a three weeks after the year started I would get a hug and kiss from Sir Elton John. Nor did I anticipate riding in a helicopter over New York City or being high in the sky in a hot air balloon. I also cannot forget two trips to Hollywood, being on set while they were filming the new Muppet movie, meeting Miss. Piggy and Kermit not once – but twice, my second red carpet premiere, a Hollywood after party and being a foot away from Hugh Jackman and having him look me directly in my eyes and smile at me .

It’s easy not to forget amazing events in your life like this. Sadly it’s all too easy to forget less momentous, but equally as important events in your life. For example, this past Winter we had a terrible blizzard. My husband was playing around with a friend on Facebook. They were both pretending to be a weatherman. Late that night my husband was outside giving his weather report (I was filming it) and out of the blue he threw himself backwards into the snow! It was hysterical! I remember that happening NOW, but will I remember that 3, 5 or even 1o years from now?

My daughter had her first “date” this past summer. I remember the events of that day, but how much will I remember 10 years from now? Let’s face it, the older you get the harder it is to remember events in your life. It’s also hard to remember how you felt. We all have times in our lives when we go through periods of great joy, or much sadness or frustration. Wouldn’t it be interesting to be able to reflect upon all these aspects of our lives?

One way to do that is with a journal (or diary). My husband has about 12 years worth of journals tucked away in our basement storage. He won’t let anyone read them, not even me! He doesn’t even want to read them because to quote him, it is just a reminder of “how pathetic” his life was.

I am a writer. I love to write (in case you haven’t noticed :-) ). When I see a blank page I’m compelled to write a lot to fill it up. That is great when I have much to say but there are days when I really have nothing too exciting going on to write about. There are only so many entries I can make that read “Got up, walked the dog, cleaned out the litter box, fed the animals, cleaned, took care of the family, went to bed…“. My life isn’t exciting year round (I wish it was!). With a typical journal I feel obligated to fill in all the empty writing space. When I have nothing much to say it actually turns me off of writing in the journal.

I also have Carpal Tunnel in my right wrist, and I’m right handed. Handwriting isn’t always easy for me. It’s often very sloppy.

There is the ideal solution to journal your thoughts and keeping track of special events in your life. It’s called Journal 10. Journal 10 is unlike any journal you have ever seen. Its one of those things that make you say to yourself “Why didn’t anyone think of something like this sooner?”.

Journal 10 is a very special journal that allows you to record your thoughts and life’s events for 10 full years!

Each journal page is for ONE date, but there are eleven places to write. That way each year when you write down your thoughts for the day you can look back and see exactly what happened the year before, four years before, eight years before or even ten years before – on that very SAME date.

Hopefully I explained that good enough. Let me try explaining it another way.

Let’s say I have been writing in my Journal 10 for the past five years. When I went to record today’s entry for December 29, 2011, on that very same page, I will see ALL my entries for December 29th. That way I can look back on exactly what I did or what my thoughts were on December 29, 2010, or in 2009, 2008, 2007… and so forth.

Each entry for your journal only has four lines, so you don’ t have to feel obligated to write a mini-novel about your day. That is great for someone like me who feels compelled to fill in all the space.

No worries, if you need more room to write, especially if something very important or momentous happened that day, there is a section where you can “carry over” any additional information you want to record.

Most people look forward to each and every new year with goals and aspirations. Each year in the Journal 10 book has it’s own special page that allows you to record your thoughts on the new year and any goals you might have. You can look back on that page throughout the year to keep you on track of your goals or to mark off the things you accomplished that you set out to do.

Journal 10 is so much more then just a journal. There are also sections that you can use to keep track of important information such as medical information, insurance and renewals.

Journal 10 also has a handy address and telephone number section and another special section to help you keep track of important yearly dates such as anniversaries and birthdays so that you never forget. It’s also a great way to know in advance if you need to pick up a card or a gift.

This is also a quality made book, sure to last beyond 10+ years.

You can start Journal 10 anytime you want. Currently the Journal 10 book that started on January 1, 2011 is on sale for $29.95. The Journal 10 book that starts on January 1, 2012 is only $39.95. Both books come with FREE SHIPPING.

If you order a book now and it doesn’t show up in time for January 1st, no worries. Just start the book when it arrives. You can also make entries in a notebook and transfer them over to the Journal 10 when it arrives.

Just think, if you start the Journal 10 in 2012 you will be able to record your thoughts and events until 2022!

I have the Journal 10. It’s sitting on my desk all ready to go for my first entry in just a few days.

For more information about Journal 10, or to make a purchase, please visit www.Journal10.com.

Journal 10 is not only a great gift for yourself but also for your family, children and grandchildren. It’s a lovely way to share personal and intimate thoughts with those you love.

Alexia Foods

As a busy mom I’m always on the look out for quick and easy things I can prepare for my family for dinner. Most of the time I’m able to cook a regular meal but there are those occasions when I need to whip something up quickly, especially something that doesn’t require defrosting. Pasta is my usual standby.

Even if I am just making a pot of spaghetti I still need to offer my family something more to go with it. I want to make sure that they are full and satisfied. Premade frozen meatballs are great to keep on hand. Not only do they go great with spaghetti/pasta but they are also make great meatball sandwiches. When I can I try and make my own meatballs and freeze them. Other times I’ll use store bought meatballs.

Another thing I try and keep on hand is breads and rolls. My family always enjoys breads and rolls fresh from the oven.

Alexia Foods has some great frozen bread products that can be baked and on your table in approximately 10 minutes. About the same time it takes to cook a pot of pasta.

One of our favorites is the Garlic Baguette. It comes in a two-pack (two loaves) or in a single loaf. My family of four usually eats two loaves with dinner.

The Garlic Baguette is frozen and ready to go. Simply put the loaf/loaves on a pan and pop in the oven. There is nothing else you need to do. When it’s ready you have a crisp bread with a soft inside covered in melted butter and garlic. My daughter says it’s just like the bread we get from an Italian restaurant.

Another Alexia bread we recently tried are their Classic French Rolls. They remind me of mini-French breads. They even look like little breads. When I think “rolls” I think small, round breads. The Classic French Rolls look more like bread the way they look and are shaped.

These taste so irresistibly good fresh from the oven, sliced in half and with a pat of butter melting on it. YUMM! I could go for one right now.

If I’m not mistaken there were 10 rolls in the bag. You can use as many as you want. If you live alone or  it’s just you and your significant other you can pop as many as you want in the oven. If you have a family you’ll probably end up using the whole bag.

The rolls come out of the oven crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. These also seem like they come from a fancy restaurant, not from your freezer.

Having delicious breads that go from your freezer, to the oven and then on the table in around 10 minutes (give or take) is a must have staple in any family’s kitchen. They are a great way to jazz up a fancy meal, or add a little something extra to a quick and easy meal.

Alexia also makes other products including one of my favorites, Sweet Potato Fries which are available in Julienne cut, Crinkle Cut, Spicy, Sweet Potato Puffs and Waffle Cut. I recently tried the Waffle Cut. They were OK. I prefer the Potato Puffs or Crinkle Cut instead. I don’t like Waffle Cut fries to begin with, so it’s not just an Alexia thing. I just don’t like Waffle Cuts.
