Our economy has been very difficult on many people. Personally I don’t know anyone who has not been negatively effected by the economy. Our family was hit with a $20,000+ a year pay cut when my husband had to find another job with significantly less pay (and horrible health insurance too!). To make up for the loss of income I have been looking for a part time job. It’s been well over a year and I still have not been able to find something. It’s no joke when I say we buy Ramen Noodles in the bulk packaging. There are sometimes we have no choice but to eat the 5/$1.00 soup.
I always find it amusing when I hear people talking about where to eat dinner that night or should they order take out? My family rarely goes out to eat. Once every few months we’re fortunate to take the kids out to the local diner or restaurant. And while many families order pizza on a weekly basis, ordering pizza for my family is a rare treat too.
Sometimes just going out to eat at a nice restaurant is a great feeling. Not only is it nice not to have to cook or do dishes, but it’s also fun to try out new foods and enjoy quality time with family and friends. It’s a nice change of pace.
This time of year so many people are feeling down, not only because of the economy, but also because this time of year sometimes makes people feel “blue”. Maybe they are missing their family or have suffered a terrible loss.
Restaurant.com would love to help you send some “holiday cheer” to family and friends. Through their Feed It Forward program YOU could send FREE $10.00 Restaurant.com eGift certificates to up to 40 friends and family EVERY DAY until the end of 2011 (December 31, 2011).
The Feed It Forward program was started in 2008 as a result of the economic downturn. Feed It Forward enables individuals to give FREE $10 Restaurant.com eGift Cards to friends, family or anonymously send random acts of kindness to the Restaurant.com community.
A whopping $32 million in dining experiences have been given away for FREE over the past three years. WOW! That is amazing!
There is no catch. You don’t have to spend a dime. All you need to do is open up a FREE account and then start sending people on your holiday list, family and friends a FREE $10 egift certificate to Restaurant.com.
Before you think $10.o0 won’t buy much, think again! You can get a $25.00 gift card to most restuarants at Restaurants.com for $10.00. Or you can purchase two $10.00 gift certificates to the same (or different) restaurants for only $5.00.
We live in a rinky dinky county outside of NYC. We don’t have many “big name” restaurants here. I didn’t think Restaurant.com would have anything in my area, but they do! On Restaurant.com I found Italian restaurants, Japanese restaurants, Chinese restaurants, Indian restaurants, pubs and more! I found at least four restaurants I would love to get a gift certificate for.
Because this program has had so much success, Restaurant.com has once again set aside a pool of $40 million worth of eGift Certificates which will allow every participant in the program to gift up to $16,000 each! That is AWESOME!
You can choose whom to give to and your gift recipients then decide where to dine from a list of more than 9,500 participating Restaurant.com restaurants nationwide.

Restaurant.com is the only way I have been able to eat out in the past year. Lifesavers. I have been in the same boat as your family but I am finally (after 2 1/2 years of temp jobs and unemployment) in the position where I have a few job offers to choose from 🙂 So do what you have to do and don’t lose hope.

Oh and I meant to add- that is why I am super excited for my AmEx giftcard to arrive. It may seem like something little to someone who hasn’t had the same struggles but for me, it was like winning the lottery!

I know what you mean by friends who don’t know where to go for dinner. I always say -why don’t you try something new and eat at home like you are supposed to? You know actually get off the couch and fix a meal yourself, you might see that you like it.
It does make them stop and think. 🙂

I had NO idea what Restaurant.com was! I have seen it discussed in blogs and given as giveaways. I had no idea it was a “gifting” or paying forward type thing. We are pretty darn frugal, but we also have a problem getting cheap, awful food on the dollar menu when we are running crazy with kids and I am not so healthy or strong some days to cook. I have to admit we eat out fast lately about twice a week. BUT, we are not couchers who sit and watch tv through their family meal. We do sit down together. But this deal would allow some healthier food sometimes and a real treat. Mostly we eat cheap pasta meals at our house too and dont get to push the limit much at the grocery store. I’d love to cook with fresh, good and organic ingredients.

Maybe the restaurant choices are better for folks in other areas but we dont have any good ones near us. Just some Indian food which is about the only cuisine I can’t stand. Bummer. But I hope others get a good deal out of this.
