We live in a tiny condo. You wouldn’t think that we would ever have a need for a ladder. Neither did we when we first moved in here. We figured whatever we needed to do that was “high up” we could just stop on a chair or get a small step stool. We realized quickly that a ladder was essential to the up keep and maintenance of our condo. There are places we need to get to that chairs and step stools just won’t do. We NEED a ladder.
We have never broken down to get a ladder. As you know ladders are expensive. We also have no place to store a traditional ladder. Traditional ladders are also not very handy at times. They are big, bulky and don’t bend the way you need them to.
Thankfully the Little Giant Xtreme has come to the rescue. FINALLY there is a ladder we can utilize in our home, contorts in ways that make it easy for us to get things done, and is easy enough to store when not in use.
You might have seen the Little Giant Xtreme ladder on TV. We’ve seen the infomercials on TV frequently.
Normally I take infomercials on TV with a “grain of salt”. Sometimes those products are just as amazing as they appear on TV. Other times they are a total waste of money. The Little Giant Xtreme is one of those products that are just as amazing in person as they are on TV.
We received a Little Giant Xtreme to review. My husband thought I was nuts to want to review a ladder. He quickly changed his tune when he had a chance to play around with the ladder and put it to use.
The first thing we noticed about the Little Giant Xtreme is that is folds up to be a nice, compact size. Unlike other ladders that are long and cumbersome, the Little Giant Xtreme folds down to be a small size. I didn’t measure it but I would think it’s about four feet tall (give or take) when it’s folded down. It’s also easy enough to carry. It is heavy but not so heavy that my 12 year old son can’t move it around. The Little Giant Xtreme even has wheels on one side so you can easily tip it and push/pull the ladder to it’s destination.
The Little Giant Xtreme is very sturdy. I’m a plus size woman. I am scared to death to stand on anything. I’m always afraid whatever I stand on will tip or break. I refuse to stand on a chair and I don’t trust step stools. I leave all the “high up” stuff to my husband.
I was a bit hesitant to climb up the Little Giant Xtreme, but I did. Wow! I have never felt so comfortable and confident on a ladder before. I wasn’t afraid it was going to tip or break. It felt really sturdy and steady under my feet. I event went to the top step on the ladder and laid my hands on my ceiling for the first time (and noticed all the dust on top of the picture frames – ugh!).
The steps on the Little Giant Xtreme are wider then traditional ladder. The Little Giant Xtreme is also two ladders in one (more about that later) which also makes the steps wide. The top step also features an additional piece that provides you with even more foot room. The platform makes it much more comfortable to stand longer periods of time on the ladder. It makes you feel as though you are standing on the ground.
For someone who has always been terrified to be on a ladder I felt so at ease and comfortable on the Little Giant Xtreme.
For added comfort and security the Little Giant Xtreme also has an additional handle that you can insert into the top of the ladder. It gives you something you can hold on to when you are at the top which provides you with added security and helps you to feel safer. Then handle is part of an “air deck” system. The air deck is another platform that acts as an all-in-one work station. There is a place for all your tools and accessories. It even has a cup holder!
I’m sorry that the photo doesn’t do the air deck justice. This is very handy to have because the last thing you want to do is have to climb up and down the ladder to get your tools, screws, nails, or anything else you might need.
Little Giant Xtreme offers an paint try (sold separately) that holds up to a gallon of paint and attaches to the ladder, making painting much more efficient and easier. The paint tank is also coated with something that prevents the paint from sticking to it. That means clean up is a snap because dried paint literally pulls out of the tank.
I do not have one of the tanks so I cannot verify if it really works that way. I can only tell you what I saw on TV. It looks pretty cool. Considering my husband needs to paint the bedroom and do some touch up painting on the ceiling we will have to look into getting one of those for our ladder.
As an added safety feature the Little Giant Xtreme ladder has a wider base which adds more stability to the ladder.
Unlike a traditional ladder, the Little Giant Xtreme can be contorted in various positions. It has to be THE MOST versatile ladder ever made. You can use it for low heights, for example, to clean the ceiling fans. You can also extend it out as far as it goes and use it to put up lights on your house or get up on the roof for repairs.
The Little Giant Xtreme is like having 24 different ladders in one. It is an adjustable 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 foot A-frame step-ladder, a 90-degree ladder, an adjustable extension ladder (11 – 19 feet), a staircase ladder and a trestle-and-plank scaffolding system – all in one!
Here are a few examples of the various ways the Little Giant Xtreme can be positioned.
For my family the Little Giant Xtreme will serve us well in it’s normal, un-extended state. However my husband does want to use the ladder to reach the the air conditioner. Up until now we’ve never had anything that we could use to reach the air conditioner. Now we can put a cover on it to keep the draft from coming into the bedroom during the Winter months.
Under normal circumstances I would be hesitant to use a ladder bent in all those different positions. I would feel like the ladder will come undone and will collapse or fall over. I wouldn’t feel that way with the Little Giant Xtreme. This ladder has really strong “locks” that keeps the ladder in whatever position you want.
The locks are easy enough to use. Simply push in the orange knobs, position the ladder the way you want it, then release the knob. Solid “bars” (for lack of a better description) keep the ladder in it’s place.
Earlier in my review I mentioned that the Little Giant Xtreme was actually two ladders in one. You can slide out one ladder from the other, giving you TWO ladders. The Little Giant Xtreme comes with special end caps that convert the insert ladder into a separate ladder.
Two ladders allows you to have two people working on the same project at the same time. Or you can purchase the optional plank and turn the ladders into a trestle-and-plank scaffolding system.
The Little Giant Xtreme is so much more then a basic ladder. It’s also something that will be used again and again in various capacities. Men and women will find uses for the Little Giant Xtreme whether it’s cleaning off the top of the kitchen cabinets (I plan on doing that with the ladder) or doing repairs around the home.
This is the one and only ladder you’ll ever need.

My gutters really need to be cleaned, and the ladder I used to use was stolen this summer. So, no ladder, no gutter cleaning! I like that it can be locked into many positions securely, so it can be used anywhere!
Thanks for the giveaway!

while I can think of several uses for this in this house… one thing in particular comes to mind as impossible without it! Changing the lightbulb going to the 3rd floor… In their infinite wisdom… they placed this light fixture on the ceiling at the height of the room ceiling… That means I’d have to be about 20′ tall to reach it… obviously, I’m not… so a ladder that can stand level even on stairs would be invaluable!

I’d use it to clean our ceiling fans, i love all the lockable positions.
we have a very high awkward staircase that we want to paint, this ladder would actually make that possible . Great giveaway! Thank you!
We have bought a house and have been remoldeling, the little giant would be a great help. We would use it to hang sheetrock on the ceiling, hang and paint the trim in the house. Install the lights. I really love the lockable position, so we wouldn’t have to worry when we are focusing all our attention hanging sheetrock on the ceiling. Thank you for this giveaway.
