Are you planning on moving?

I was playing around on Twitter tonight when a Twitter handle caught my eye, @UncleBobStorage. The reason why it stood out is because everyone calls my Dad “Uncle Bob“, and my family is trying to figure out what to do with his house (rent it or sell it). He still has furniture and “stuff” in the house that will need to go into storage. So it was rather amusing to find that Twitter handle. :-)

I checked out the website because I’m a very inquisitive person and the name piqued my interest. It’s essentially a storage moving guide. Although my Dad isn’t necessarily moving (he already moved into a rental house), we still need to pack up the rest of his stuff and movie it somewhere (either storage or his rental house).

If you are planning on moving, this can be a handy resource. There is a nifty info-graphic on the home page that not only features some interesting facts about moving, but also some handy tips too.

Did you know that the average person moves 11.5 times in their lifetime? That is one of the trivia facts quoted on the info-graphic. I find that number interesting. I think it’s kind of high. I’ve moved ONCE in my life time. I had an apartment for a few months one summer but I don’t consider that a move because most of my stuff stayed at home with my parents. My husband has moved a bit more. He’s moved about 4 or 5 times.

Above is the info-graphic I am referring to. You can click on it to enlarge it (you will go to another page then click the image again for a larger view). You can also visit the web page directly (which is probably easier and will give you a better view), www.UncleBobs.com/MovingGuide

I found the tips handy. I would have never thought to use dresser drawers to store linens when moving. That is a great tip!

I see from the site that they offer a lot of information about moving trucks rental, storage, and even storing your car.

It’s pretty cool how the simply playing around on Twitter lead me to this site. It’s funny how my eye caught the “Uncle Bob” part of the Twitter handle. I wouldn’t have the same luck on Facebook because it’s not as easy to stumble upon Facebook pages that way.

Humm… I wonder if Uncle Bob is on Facebook. I’ll have to check it out.

I thought some of my readers might be interested in this resource I happened across, in case you are in the process of moving. At the rate we’re going we’ll never move out of our condo. Sigh…

OK… back to Twitter. I’m curious to see what else I can find tonight.

Kimberly

Thanks for the tip Kimberly. We will be moving again in the next few months so I will definitely check this out. BTW, I have moved 12 times (not counting the summers in college because most of my stuff stayed in storage). My mom has moved more than 30 times as her dad was in the Air Force. : )
