I have been fascinated by Bamboo products for a while now. I still can’t believe that people can turn Bamboo into clothing, bedding, toys and a variety of other products. When I think “Bamboo” I think of Pandas noshing on it. I don’t think shirts or sheets.
Did you know that Bamboo is Botanically classified as a grass, not a tree? I would think because it’s hard like wood and grows really tall that it would be in the tree family, but it’s not.
Bamboo is also one of the world’s most sustainable resources. That is because it grows rapidly. It is ready to harvest in just four years, unlike trees that take many years to reach their full growth potential. Bamboo also does not need to be replanted once it’s harvest. Bamboo continually grows new shoots, and they do it naturally without the need of pesticides or fertilizers.
Bamboo is turned into a fabric by crushing the woody parts of the plant, then use a natural enzyme to break down the Bamboo into a “mush” where the natural fibers can be removed and spun into a yarn, and then into a fabric. It takes a lot of work to turn Bamboo into a fabric, that is why Bamboo tends to be more expensive then other fabrics.
It’s hard to believe that Bamboo fabric was once that tall, woody grass. If you have ever felt something made from Bamboo you’ll know how incredibly soft it is.
I love the way Bamboo clothing, Bamboo Baby clothing and plush toys feel. When I was asked to review bed sheets made from Bamboo I was super excited. I couldn’t wait to see what they felt like to sleep on.
Green Earth Bamboo send me a set of bed sheets to try out and share my review with my readers. I received a set of their Green Tea colored sheets (a soft green color). I never knew there was such a thing as Bamboo bedding.
The sheets from Green Earth Bamboo are made from 100% viscose from Bamboo. These organic, eco-friendly sheets are great for people with skin allergies. It also has a natural wicking which means they absorb moisture from your skin (like night sweats) and dry quickly.
Green Earth Bamboo offers Bamboo sheets sets in a variety of Earthy colors and designs. You can easily mix and match them to create the ideal look to fight your room’s decor. They even come in a Bamboo drawstring bag.
In case you were wondering they have a 250 Thread Count. And because they are made from a pesticide free, sustainable and renewable resource that makes them very Earthy friendly.
Bamboo bedding is also ant-static, which I thought was pretty interesting.

Before we put the sheets on our bed we just had to feel them. Even straight from the bag they felt really soft.
We washed the sheets before putting them on our bed. Make sure read the washing and drying instructions. Ideally it would have been great to air dry them on a clothes line, but we don’t have that option where we live.
I couldn’t wait to get them on the bed and spend my first night sleeping on them.
The fitted sheet and pillow cases are super soft. The top sheet was really soft too, but felt a bit different then the fitted sheet and pillow cases. For lack of a better description the top sheet had a more silky feel to it. When my husband was putting the sheets on our bed (my husband helps with stuff around the house
), I asked him if the top sheet was more like silk (satin?) because of the way it rippled like a wave when he was putting it on the bed.
I’m having a hard time finding more descriptive words then simply to say they are SO SOFT and very dreamy to sleep on. My husband also said that they have a “cooling effect”. I guess in a way they do. I suppose we’ll see how handy that comes in when it’s hot outside.
I’d like to think our other sheets are OK, however they are not top quality sheets. For us we can clearly notice a difference between the viscose from Bamboo sheets and our other sheet sets. The Bamboo sheets, by far, are much nicer. They make you want to crawl into bed – and stay in bed – because they feel so luscious and soft. Ha! Just thinking of them makes me want to crawl into bed right now.
Now that I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to sleep with Bamboo sheets, I’m looking forward to trying out more things made with Bamboo. I think the next thing I’d like to get are Bamboo Bath towels. That sounds heavenly.
