Can you believe that American Idol has been on for 11 seasons already? My son is going to be 13 in September. That means American Idol has pretty much been on the air almost his entire life. In fact, I was SHOCKED to learn it was season 11. I was thinking it was season 7 or 8.
My family never watched the first season of American Idol, although my husband is a fan of Kelly Clarkson. We didn’t start watching it until the second season.
Here is an interesting American Idol tid bit for you. Season 4 contestant, Constantine Maroulis, has a sister name Anastacia. When Constantine was on American Idol his sister was the principal at my kid’s elementary school.
The elementary school staff, teachers and all the children voted for Constantine. They had t-shirts made up that the kids would wear every week. There were also posters and banners hung up in his honor.
I made buttons for my kids to wear that said “Vote 4 Constantine”. Some of the teachers asked me to make one for them too. I made 100+ buttons (free of charge of course) for the students, teachers and staff to wear.
We were all hoping that he would show up at the school for the kids, but he never did. He did thank them over the phone once. His sister held the phone up to the microphone so it was heard in all the classrooms.
The kids were disappointed that he never came to school to thank them for all their support. Oh well…
One of my most favorite American Idol alumni is Chris Daughtry. I love his music! He’s awesome! I also like Adam Lambert. He’s a bit over the top but I like his music.

When my family watches American Idol together was act as judges and critique each contestant and come up with our top picks. Sometimes we agree, sometimes we don’t. But that is the fun of it. The judges on TV don’t always agree either.
If you are going to have a Family Night make sure to include some yummy beverages and treats for the family to enjoy too. It can be something as easy and simple as chips and soda, or you can order a pizza or make some appetizers. Everyone loves to have something to nibble on during a Family Night.
Other things you can do on Family Night is have a Family Movie Night or a Family Game Night. Those are two things my family enjoys doing together too.
It’s not so much what you do as it is making memories together that will last a lifetime. Sometimes it’s the simply things in life that mean the most.

We always get movies from Netflix and watch them together as a family, which usually includes boyfriends and any friends tgat happen to be over. Our house is the “hang-out” for the kids. Apparently we are the “cool” parents of the neighborhood LOL
Our new addition to the family, 15 yr old Emma just said to us last night “when we move into the new house we’re going to sit down to dinner together all the time right?” We said Yes, of course. We are in the process of packing to move from this apartment to a new home. Having 3 teenage girls sharing one room can be exhausting for us parents! LOL
So yeah, we fully intend to eat dinner together, at the table, as a family as well as our movie time together.
Our family loves to play monopoly on sunday afternoons!
we play board games every so often!
We train for triathlons together.
We have a regular family night. Sometimes it’s board game night, sometimes movie night and sometimes video game night.
