I have always been curious about air purifiers. Can you REALLY clean the air that you breath?
Have you really given much thought to the air that you breath in on a daily basis at home, at the office and when you are running errands around town? You might not realize it but you are breathing in dust, dirt, dander, bacteria and a hodge podge of things.
Did you know that the average person takes 900 breaths per hour? WOW! I never gave that any thought. We do it naturally. I would never think to sit and count them. That means the average person takes 21,600+ breaths per day. Now imagine those breaths filled with harmful things that circulate in the air. I’m referring to the invisible things that you can’t see with the naked eye.
A recent survey by Honeywell Air Purifiers found that only 1/3 of people are thinking about what’s in their home air. A scary thought when the EPA has found that VOC levels on average are 2-5 times higher indoors than outdoors. To compound that, certain activities like paint stripping can elevate VOC levels by 1,000.
VOC stands for volatile organic compounds. They are organic chemical compounds which can have a significant affect the environment and human health.
To combat VOCs and other airborne particles, an air purifier can do the trick. One air purifier you might want to consider is the Honeywell HEPAClean 3-in-1 Tower Air Purifier. This purifier features an advanced air cleaning system that combines 3 powerful air cleaning technologies into one – delivering cleaner, fresher air to your home.
The Honeywell HEPAClean 3-in-1 Tower Air Purifier features a germ-fighting ultraviolet technology that can helpto reduce certain viruses, bacteria, fungi and mold spores. The HEPAClean filters capture up to 99% of airborne particles such as dust, pet dander, smoke and pollen.
The air purifier also has long-life HEPAClean filters that can be vacuumed or replaced when the Filter Check Light indicates the filter is dirty. In addition, the enhanced odor control carbon zeolite pre-filter helps reduce common household odors such as pet, cooking, nursery and smoke odors.
When it comes pet dander and pet odors my family knows a lot about them. We have five cats and a dog. Need I say more?
I dust on a regular basis, yet it seems like no sooner do I dust I have to dust again. I blame that on the pet dander and possibly the dust and dirt from the parking lot. Our condo over looks the parking lot. I like to open the windows and let fresh air in. I often wonder how much dust and dirt comes into our windows from the cars zooming around the parking lot.
How much dust, dirt and dander are we breathing in? Ewww…
Honeywell sent me their Honeywell HEPAClean 3-in-1 Tower Air Purifier to try out in my home. I was really excited about trying it out. My father has an air purifier and I’ve always been curious as to how well they work.
The Honeywell HEPAClean 3-in-1 Tower Air Purifier is a decent size. I was worried that it would be too big and take up a lot of room. It doesn’t. It’s also light weight so it’s easy to move from room to room if needed. We keep ours in the living room which serves as the living room, our bedroom (my hubby and I sleep on a sofa bed in the living room) and my office. It’s also open to the hallway, kitchen and dining room so we figured the living room was the perfect location for the purifier.
You don’t have to do anything with the purifier to set it up. Simply plug it in and turn it on. There are some buttons for the various functions that you can customize to your personal preferences. It’s very easy to use.
The purifier is very quiet. You can barely hear that it’s on. The only time I really noticed it was at night when I was going to bed and the TV was turned off. It was only the first couple of nights that I noticed it. After that I really didn’t notice it anymore. It’s kind of like a “white noise” in a way.
The fan can be either stationary or you can have it swing gently back and forth with the oscillating feature. We keep ours on oscillating. Both my husband and I like the gentle breeze that it sends out (clean air). It’s actually rather refreshing.
I love that the unit tells you when the filter needs to be cleaned. It’s not that easy to see from the photo but there is a “bar” on the display screen for the filter. Right now it’s still towards the clean area. As the filter collects more and more debris from the air the filter status will move towards the right. When it gets to the right you’ll need to clean out the filter. Its great that you don’t have to purchase new filters. You can vacuum them clean and replace them in the unit. There is no need to spend money on new filters each time or be inconvenienced to have to drive around town looking for the filters that fit your unit.
I cannot tell you if the unit is truly cleaning the air but I have faith that it is. My husband is totally convinced that it is. The unit is close to our TV stand. Our TV stand is black. The littlest dust shows up easily on the TV stand, especially in our home with all the pet hair and dander. No sooner do I dust the TV stand you can see the dust come back. Since using the the Honeywell HEPAClean 3-in-1 Tower Air Purifier the dust on the TV stand doesn’t come back as rapidly as it used to. My husband insists that is because the purifier is sucking in the dust and dander that would normally find it’s way to the TV stand. That alone “sold” my husband on the purifier.
I can’t wait to see how the purifier handles tree pollen. We have a tree directly in front of our balcony off the living room. My kids are allergic to tree pollen. I’m curious to see how much of the pollen the purifier collects and prevents from taking over my home and causing my kids to miserable with coughing, sneezing and itchy eyes.

I really like the Honeywell HEPAClean 3-in-1 Tower Air Purifier. We have it on all the time except for when we’re out of our home for more then a couple of hours. I am very pleased. So is my husband. It makes me feel good that I cam providing my family and pets with clean air for them to breath in.
