KleenSlate Response Paddles

One of the many things that I love about blogging is being about to share unique products with my site readers. Being a blogger has opened me up to a world of amazing products, websites and so much more (not to mention meeting such wonderful people).

KleenSlate Response Paddles is one of those really unique products that I am thrilled I had the opportunity to learn more about, plus try out for myself.

KleenSlate Response Paddles are plastic paddles with a dry erase surface on both sides. One side is blank and the other side features lines to help students learn to write.

At first I didn’t see why these would be handy in a classroom situation. But after watching my kids use the paddles I can truly see their benefits. Even as a mom I can see some practical uses for these paddles.

KleenSlate Response Paddles come in either a round or rectangle shape. They are available in a variety of primary colors. The paddles feature large writing surfaces on both sides. You can even purchase replacement sheets for the rectangle paddles in case you find that they need to be replaced over time.

KleenSlate sent me an assortment of paddles, dry erase markers and a cloth. I really like the dry erase markers because they come with an eraser on the end so your child can erase whatever they write or draw on the paddle.

I love how the markers fit snuggly right on the paddle. That is a handy feature. It saves your child from having to search for the markers.

In the classroom teachers can have children write their responses to questions and hold up the answers rather than shout out the answers or hold up their hands. I think this is a great way to encourage children to learn to write as well as practicing their spelling. It’s also a great way for teachers to gather their student’s responses to questions or discussions.

Using the paddles is fun for students. It’s also a great way to get the students more engaged and involved in classroom discussions and classwork. Because the paddles are fun to use children are more likely to use them in the classroom setting.

The paddles also save on paper, making them eco-friendly. Children can do their classwork right on the paddle and then wipe it clean after the teacher checks their work.

Educators can even hav custom paddle boards created to suit their needs.

From a classroom standpoint I can see how the paddles could come in handy in every day classroom situations.

As a mom I have also seen first hand just how fun and engaging the paddles can be just by watching my kids use them. For one thing they are ideal for long car trips. My kids have used them to doodle on, play Tic Tac Toe and even insult each other in the backseat without us knowing about it (got to love kids…LOL). I once caught my kids fighting with each other (in a playful way) using the paddles because they knew we wouldn’t find out because we wouldn’t hear them fighting. Of course their plan backfired. Whenever the kids are too quiet you know they are up to something. :-)

My kids always listen to music on their iPods with earphones. I have seen them “talk” to each other with the paddles without removing their earphones.

I have used one of the paddles to write down what was for dinner. I’m tired of everyone asking me so as a joke I wrote it on the paddle and put it in the kitchen.

KleenSlate Response Paddles can be used for a variety of thins and in different situations. They can be used in hospitals for patients who cannot speak. Or they can be used to play games like drawing or trivia games.

One idea that I really love and plan on utilizing the paddles for are to add messages to my photos.

The possibilities are endless. Except for one idea my kids came up with which I didn’t think was so good - road rage. LOL! My kids suggested writing messages to the other drivers. I don’t really think that would be a good use for them. Ha  Ha.

You can learn more about KleenSlate Response Paddles and make purchases (paddles, markers, erasers, classroom sets…) at www.KleenSlate.com.

I’m giving KleenSlate Response Paddles two thumbs up. These are really a lot of fun to use and useful for so many situations.

  1. Love these! The uses within a classroom would be fantastic. I just may have to get some to give as teacher gifts for the start of the year in September.
