New Year’s Eve now available on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD & Digital Download

A couple of years ago the movie Valentine’s Day came out in theaters. I didn’t get a chance to see it until it made it’s way to TV.

Valentine’s Day is a fun, romantic movie about various couples trying to connect and find love on one of the most romantic days of the year – Valentine’s Day. It featured an all-star cast including Jennifer Gardner, Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, Taylor Swift, Emma Roberts and George Lopez, to name a few.

The follow up to Valentine’s Day called New Year’s Eve was in theaters last year. As of today it’s now available on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital Download.

New Year’s Eve celebrates love, hope, forgiveness, second chances and fresh starts with intertwining stories told amidst the pulse and promise of New York City on the most dazzling night of the year.

Director and producer Garry Marshall (“Valentine’s Day,”"Pretty Woman“) is joined by an all-star ensemble cast including Academy Award winner Halle Berry (“Monster’s Ball“); Jessica Biel (“Valentine’s Day“); Jon Bon Jovi (“Pay It Forward“); Academy Award nominee Abigail Breslin (“Little Miss Sunshine“); Chris “Ludacris” Bridges (“Fast Five”); two-time Academy Award winner Robert De Niro (“The Godfather: Part II“); Josh Duhamel (“Transformers“); Zac Efron (“High School Musical“); Hector Elizondo (“The Princess Diaries”); Katherine Heigl (“Knocked Up”); Ashton Kutcher (“No Strings Attached“); Seth Meyers (TV’s “Saturday Night Live”); Lea Michele (TV’s “Glee”); Sarah Jessica Parker (“Sex and the City“); Academy Award nominee Michelle Pfeiffer (“Dangerous Liasions“);Til Schweiger (“The Three Musketeers“); two-time Academy Award winner Hilary Swank (“Million Dollar Baby“) and Sofia Vergara (TV’s “Modern Family“).

As you can see this movie has an amazing cast. I didn’t even know that people like De Niro, Heigl, Swank and Duhamel were even in the film until I finally had a chance to see it.

Check out the official trailer. If you are reading this via e-mail you can find the trailer here, http://bit.ly/Jn5JnB. You can also find more clips from the film here, http://bit.ly/ImGwPO.

Here is the movie’s official synopsis.

Ingrid (Pfeiffer) is a woman looking for her purpose in life, helped along the way by Paul (Efron). Tess (Biel) and Griffin (Meyers) are in a race against the clock to have the first baby of the New Year. Randy (Kutcher) and Elise (Michele) are trapped in an elevator, one desperate to get out and one not eager to leave. Claire (Swank) is the in charge of making sure the Times Square ball drops at midnight but she runs into a major problem.

Following the converging stories of dozens of characters, “New Year’s Eve” tells these stories and more, showcasing love, hope, excitement, sadness, joy, laughter and sorrow on the most exciting night of the year.

I loved Valentine’s Day. I didn’t think that the follow up could top it – but it did! I actually like New Year’s Eve much more than Valentine’s Day. I’ve already watched New Year’s Eve twice (and I’ve only had the DVD for less then a week!) and I will most likely watch it again.

I honestly thought that New Year’s Eve was going to follow up on all the couples we met in Valentine’s Day and then introduce us to some new characters. That is not the case at all. These were entirely new and different stories.

The story lines in New Year’s Eve were each wonderful in their own way. My two favorites were the stories that involved Michelle Pfeiffer and Zac Efron (who I might say grew up nicely from his High School Musical days…wink, wink) and the story with Jessica Biel and her hubby trying to have the first baby of the new year.

I was amazed at how much little Abigail Breslin grew up. I still see her as that sweet little girl from the movie Raising Hellen.

I felt like there was a lot more going on in this movie compared to it’s predecessor. Some of the relationships and story lines were funny where as others were a bit more serious. I especially loved how all the characters were inter-connected some how.

I was in Time Square for New Year’s Eve 1995 into 1996. The year 1995 was one of my worst years ever. When I was in Time Squrae and toasted the end of 95′ and welcomed 96′ with open arms I knew 96′ was destined to be a magical year for me. It was! I met my husband, we eloped and I was pregnant with our first child all in the course of that one year. So I know first hand how magical Time Square is on New Year’s Eve. :-) I think that is another reason why I loved this movie so much. The excitement of being there in Times Square when the ball drops is indescribable.

My husband labeled this a “chick flick” before he actually sat down and watched it with me. He even admitted that he really enjoyed th film too. He said it’s still a bit more of a “girly” film, but he still found it enjoyable to watch.

If you loved Valentine’s Day then you are going to be thrilled about New Year’s Eve.

  1. Thank you so much for your review on the movie New Years Eve! Last year was a dreadful year but this new year I met a man and we actually got married in February! I really want to go to Times Square to see the ball drop one of these years. But I seen bits of this movie and the trailer make it look like something I would want to watch. Luckily I was browsing movies on Blockbuster @Home and I ran into this one so I ordered it and got it in the mail pretty quick. Hopefully I get a chance to watch it this weekend since I have been busy working so late at Dish. I am so glad I don’t have to return it right away.
