I have never watched the series Umizoomie before. I have heard of the show, and I have clicked passed it while flicking the TV remote, but I’ve never stopped and checked it out. That is until now.
I was sent the DVD Team Umizoomi: Umigames to review. The DVD is available TODAY (June 5, 2012).
Umizoomi stars a young boy and girl name Geo and Milli. They also have a best friend, a robot named Bot. The cartoon features both animated and non-animated characters, props and backgrounds. You will actually see real people throughout the episodes.
This show does a lot with math (number recognition) as well as simple concepts (for example going under and going over things) and colors.
Sprinkled throughout the show are songs. Unlike some kiddie-show songs that can easily get on an adults nerves (I know you hate to admit it but some kiddie songs get on your nerves too – LOL!), these songs are cute and tolerable. The characters are adorable too.
Team Umizoomi: Umigames comes out at the perfect time with the Summer Olympics fast approaching. This DVD will help get you and your child into the Olympic spirit.
Join Team Umizoomi on four mighty math missions filled with exciting games. Help Milli, Geo and Bot win the Super Sports Trophy at thee Umi Games. You’ll also play carnival games, search for a missing stuffed bunny and help bot on crazy skates.
This DVD features four episodes and 3 bonus episodes. It is rated G (of course!) and runs for a little over an hour and a half (96 minutes).
The featured episodes include;
Umizoomi Sport Games: Team Umizoomi is playing in the biggest sports event around: the Umi Games! To win the Super Sports Trophy, Milli, Geo and Bot must defeat the robotic athletes.
Boardwalk Games: Team Umizoomi’s friend Ryan wants to win a toy helicopter at the Boardwalk Carnival. Milli, Geo and Bot play carnival games to earn tickets and help Ryan win the special prize.
Crazy Skates: Bot decides to give roller-skating a try but when he puts on a pair of “crazy skates” by accident, he starts rolling out-of-control all cross Umi City. Milli and Geo must rescue their runaway robot pal.
Carnival: Jake calls in from his class trip at the Umi City Carnival. The class is having a great time on all the rides but Jake lost his favorite stuffed animal Bunny! Team Umizoomi takes the Umicar to the carnival to help Jake rescue his stuffed animal.
My favorite episode is Carnival. My son had a plush cat named Bear that he used to take everywhere with him. My biggest fear was that he would lose it and it would never be found again.
This is a really cute show that I’m sure parents will enjoy just as much as their little ones.
