Mirror Mirror now on Blu-ray & DVD

Every now and then there is a movie that I am super anxious to see and I can’t wait for it to be released on Blu-ray and/or DVD. We don’t go to the theater often because it can be pricey, especially with a family of four (my teens are considered “adults” as far as ticket prices are concerned).

One such movie was Mirror Mirror which stars Julia Roberts and Lily Collins. It’s a different twist to the classic Snow White story.

I’ve been anxious to see the movie because it looked like it was a lot of fun for the whole family, including my hard to please teens. :-)

Julia Roberts plays the lead role of the evil queen. She seduced the king and made him fall in love with her. After they wed she conveniently had him disappear in the dark forest leaving behind his beautiful daughter, Snow White.

The evil queen eventually spends all the money in the kingdom and is having a hard time getting anymore money from the impoverished towns people. When Snow White finds out what the queen was doing she confronted her. In order to keep Snow White silent the queen had one of her faithful men take her into the woods to kill her. Instead he leaves Snow White and returns with miscellaneous body parts to convince the queen that Snow White was dead.

The evil queen hatches a new plan to make a handsome, young, wealthy prince fall in love with her so they could marry and she would be rich again. The only problem is the prince is in love with a young girl he met in the woods – Snow White.

While the queen is trying to make the prince fall in love with her, Snow White is in the forest where she has taken up residency with a group of rebellious dwarfs.

Will Snow White ever return to the kingdom and defeat the evil queen? Will true love prevail? You’ll just have to pick up a copy of Mirror Mirror to find out. The movie is currently available in Blu-ray, DVD , Digital Download and copy.

I know the story doesn’t sound that amusing or entertaining, but it really is. The movie is really funny, most especially the dwarfs.

Julie Roberts was the perfect choice for the part of the evil queen. You wanted to hate her because she was so mean but at the same time there was something very likable about her. I don’t normally associate Julia Robers with comedies but in this case I think she did a fabulous job.

Lily Collins was a great choice for the part of Snow White. She has porcelain skin and jet black hair. Did you know her father is singer Phil Collins? She also appeared in the movie Blind Side (awesome movie).

Armie Hammer plays the part of the handsome prince.

I think the characters who really make the movie a lot of fun are the dwarfs. They are nothing like the characters in the classic Disney film. Instead of characters like Sleepy, Dopey and Doc you have Wolf, Butcher and Chuckles.

I also love the beautiful scenery and colorful costumes. The special effects were pretty amazing too.

If you are looking for a fun, lighthearted and silly movie to enjoy with your family, Mirror Mirror is the perfect choice. Some of the humor might not be understood by little ones but they can still enjoy the movie.

Be sure to check out the bonus features too. My favorite is Looking Through the Mirror which gives you an in depth look into the making of the movie, from it’s conception to it’s unique wardrobe design and everything else in between.

The Mirror Mirror Storybook bonus feature tells you the story of Snow White in a virtual book where you turn the pages.

Kids will love the Prince and the Puppies bonus feature. I’ll give you a hint – it features a lot of adorable puppies.

There are also deleted scenes and a music video for the song I Believe I Can Dance sung by Lily Collins.

Look for Mirror Mirror where ever movies are sold.
