Edy’s (Dreyers) gives you plenty of reasons to smile

Nothing says summer like a great big bowl of ice cream or an ice cream cone dribbling down your arm on a hot day. Whether you like to enjoy ice cream at home or at your neighborhood ice cream stand, it’s always an enjoyable part of summer.

We all have reasons to smile. Most children will have a Cheshire cat grin on their faces (ear to ear smile) at the mere mention of ice cream. I think many adult smile when they think about having ice cream too. :-)

Have you heard about Edy’s (Dreyer’s) new summer promotion? Edy’s has partnered with actress and model Brooke Burke to help giveaway 25,000 FREE scoops of Edy’s ice cream, turning scoops into smiles.

Edy’s would also like to see your “ice cream smile”. For every photo that is uploaded to the Edy’s Facebook page (or Dreyer’s Facebook page) Edy’s will donate $5.00 to Operation Smile. Operation Smile is an international children’s medical charity (www.OperationSmile.org).

The goal of this special campaign is to giveaway 25,000 scoops of ice cream AND capture 25,000 ice cream smile photos before the end of the summer. If they succeed in their efforts 500 children from around the globe will benefit with reconstructive surgeries. These children suffer from facial deformities, cleft palates and/or cleft lip.

I order to help them reach their goal, Edy’s will pick 10 lucky people to be featured in an Edy’s Slow Churned ice cream ad. One grand prize winner will have their picture placed on the carton of an Edy’s Slow Churned limited edition flavor ice cream that will be re-introduced to store shelves in early 2013 (I wonder what flavor it will be?).

The free ice cream scoop campaign with Brooke Burke has already kicked off. The last remaining event will be on August 10th through August 12th at the Denver County Fair in Denver, CO.

Don’t worry if you missed the events. Log on to Facebook.com/EdysIceCream to receive a full-value product coupon, redeemable at all participating retail accounts and don’t forget to upload a smile to support the cause!

Enjoying Edy’s Slow Churned ice cream is another reason to smile. Not only does it come in mouth-watering flavors like Rocky Road and Mint Chocolate Chip – 20 flavors in all. This better-for-you ice cream has half the fat and 1/3 few calories than other ice creams, yet you would never know it because it’s oh-so-good!

Take for example the Mint Chocolate Chip. Regular ice cream has 150 calories and 8 grams of fat per serving. Edy’s Slow Churned Mint Chocolate Chip has 120 calories and 4.5 grams of fat per serving.

I have only tried the Vanilla Bean and Chocolate flavors because my hubby is boring when it comes to ice cream flavors. LOL! Personally I want to try the flavors Caramel Delight and the Limited Edition S’mores flavors.

We’ve had regular Edy’s and Slow Churned Edy’s and I honestly can’t tell much of a difference between the two. There is a slight difference but personally it doesn’t matter to me. If you put down a bowl of Edy’s Slow Churned Chocolate and regular Edy’s Chocolate it would be hard to pick out which is which.

In case you didn’t notice I referred to Edy’s as Dreyer’s too a few times in my post. That is because it’s known as Edy’s East of the Rocky Mountains and Dreyer’s West of the Rockies. It’s the same great ice cream, just different brand names.
