Fish vs. Pirates – Fun new Android game

Do you like to play games? Are you addicted to fun apps?

I never really played many online or computer games in the past. As soon as I got my iPhone I became “app obsessed”. Not only do I have a lot of apps that serve a function, but I also have many apps that help me pass the time when I’m in a doctor’s waiting room or where ever I find myself in need of some fun and entertainment.

I recently acquired a new smartphone to review. The new phone uses Android apps. Although a lot of the apps are the same as, or similar to, ones found at the Apple store/iTunes, I have found that there are some really cool apps on the Android market as well.

One game I discovered is called Fish vs. Pirates. The US based company, Frismos Games, recently released Fish vs. Pirates onto Google Play. This challenging defense game comes from the same masterminds behind Fish Adventure and Birdland, two other apps I have to look into. Some people liken this game to Plants vs. Zombies, which is another hugely popular game.

I know that the marketplace is already filled with defense games, but Fish vs. Pirates seems to stand out about the rest. Personally I think the dynamic cartoon inspired graphics are what really make this game shine. The fast paced authentic defense action really gets your adrenaline pumping too. This is one game that can easily become very addicting to play. :-)

The object of the game is to protect the mermaid from an onslaught of pirate fish. Players need to build an effective barrier of bubble shooting fish, pearl producing clams and defensive snails. The more you progress into the game the more options you’ll get.

You’ll need oysters to produce pearls (just like they do in real life). You need the pearls to obtain more fish to help you with your battle.

What I like about this game is that you can’t get bored with it too easily. The more you progress the harder and more challenging it gets. The first game or two might be easy enough, but that is only to “hook’ (no pun intended… well maybe a little – LOL) you into the game so that you try and advance through the different stages.

The four different stages include Pirate Attack, Submarine Treat, Shark Bite and Choking Tentacles. With each level comes more menacing enemies which provide players with different challenges.

There are also 10 stages per pack which will provide you with hours of non-stop fun and excitement. There is enough fun and unique entertainment in this game to satisfy everyone from the casual games, such as myself, to more hardcore games and tower defense enthusiasts. In all there are a whopping 40 pulse pounding stages!

Thankfully the game does have an included tutorial. I can be “technologically challenged” sometimes. It never fails to impress me how I can handover a game to either one of my children and after a few minutes they are experts at it, where as it takes me a while to figure things out. I don’t know if it’s just me or it’s an “age” thing. Kids these days are much more technologically advanced then their dear old parents.

The tutorial makes the game more “accessible” for people like me who are not necessarily hardcore games and able to easily figure games out.

This is not so much a game where you have to have a lot of “brawn” to defend the mermaid. This is more so a game where you need to use your brain and come up with the best strategy. You also must keep on your toes the entire time because this game really is really fast paced. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself shouting, squealing and yelling at the game. LOL!

Fish vs. Pirates is from US based Frismos Games. Here is a little more about the company that I found on a press release.

Frismos Games is an innovative mobile gaming company whose first release, Birdland for Facebook, put the studio at the forefront of the global app scene in 2010 with 12 million total downloads. The company had 2 further successful titles launched on Google Play in 2011, and is currently excited to roll out its 3rd Android title – Fish vs. Pirates – this August.

This is a fun game for people of all ages. I would think children perhaps as young as 8 can enjoy this game. It’s not necessarily geared towards children or adults. It’s meant for anyone, young or old, who like challenging, fun games.

Fish vs. Pirates features vibrant graphics, cute characters, some of the smoothest gird-based strategic gaming action on any mobile platform and even some great music. Don’t be surprised if the music gets stuck in your head too. I have had this happen before.

This colorful, challenging and fun game will surely please you and we are sure, you will just LOVE IT!

If you read the comments on the Google Play site for the game you’ll see that I’m not the only person who thinks this is a super fun game. Currently out of 446 reviews Fish vs. Pirates has an average of 4.4 stars for it’s overall rating.

Fish vs. Pirates is currently available for download on Google Play for free in the Games category. For more information visit the game’s Facebook page.

If you happen to download the game and play it I would very much love to hear your thoughts about it. I’m curious to see if anyone else finds it very addicting like I do. :-)
