La-Z-Boy… more than just great recliners & $1,500 gift card giveaway (ends 8/18/12)

I don’t know what it is with men and thier chairs. It seems like men like to have their own special chair. My grandfather had one, my dad had one and my husband has one. My husband’s chair is affectionetly known as the “marshmallow chair”. It’s a huge, oversized chair that is very soft, like a marshmallow. He thinks it’s the most comfortable thing in the world. I think just the opposite. It hurts my back and neck to sit in his chair for any length of time.

My dad had a favorite chair. It was a La-Z-Boy recliner. My mom had one too. I like the recliners because they are comfortable. I love putting my feet up, literally, after a long day. I also love how they cradle your body.

We used to have a La-Z-Boy recliner too. It was one of the first pieces of furniture we purchased when we got married. We had it for about 12+ years but finally had to replace it because the kids broke it. That is when my husband purchased his marshmallow chair. I was pushing for another recliner.

When people think of the brand La-Z-Boy, quality recliners are probably the first thing that comes to mind. After all, La-Z-Boy makes great recliner chairs in many different styles, patterns and colors. They are sure to have one that is just right for you and matches your homes decor.

Did you know that La-Z-Boy is so much MORE than just recliners? They also have sofas, tables, loveseats, sleepers, sectionals, lift chairs and more. I would have never thought to look to La-Z-Boy for our furniture needs.

A few years ago we needed to replace our coffee table. We went to several stores locally but no one had JUST a coffee table. They all came in sets (end tables and coffee table). We had no need for end tables so it seemed silly to pay for something we couldn’t use. We just wanted a coffee table. I had to drive more than an hour upstate just to buy a coffee table. Even worst, when we got it home the box didn’t have the legs for the table (ugh!). So the next day I had to lug this thing back upstate to exchange for a new one. Meanwhile, had I known that I could have ordered a coffee table off La-Z-Boy’s website it would have saved me a lot of time and effort. I much rather shop online then have to drive from store to store looking for something.

I found a couple of the La-Z-Boy site that I love. In hindsight I wish I knew about La-Z-Boy’s furniture because I would have purchased from them (I especially love the first table).

The next “big purchase” I’d like to make is a new TV stand. We have an inexpensive one (the kind you put together yourself) and I hate it. It’s not only ugly (hubby picked it out), but it’s all chipped and scratched because it’s not real wood. I have my eye on this entertainment center from La-Z-Boy. We have a Blu-ray player, Roku, Satillite box, Wii and other things. I love that this entertainment center has plenty of shelf space for everything (currently it’s all piled up on top of each other). I would purchase it now but we’re in the process of selling our place so the less furniture we have to move the better. Once we’re settled into our new home I’ll be interested in buying this entertainment center.

We have an amazing sleeper CHAIR from La-Z-Boy. Yes, that is correct – a sleeper chair. It’s like a sleeper sofa, but not as big. It’s more of a one person bed (sleeper sofas can sleep two).

When I first ordered the chair I thought it was one of those sleepers where the cushion came off and unfolded to form a bed. Similar to the one pictured below.

I never expected the chair to have an actual sleeper that pulls out from inside the chair, similar to the way our bed pulls out from the sofa (my husband and I have to sleep on a sofa bed in the living room). The image below is similar to what ours looks like (but not exactly). We took the bed out when we first received the bed but like a dork  I didn’t take a picture of it fully opened. Where the chair is positioned currently it’s impossible to open the bed up to tak a photo. You can see from the second picture (below) where the bed is neatly tucked away inside the chair. It’s the size of a twin size bed.

The chair is HUGE too. I was shocked at how big it is. My original thought was to put the chair in my kid’s room until we move. I figured the kids could use it to sit on and read or do homework. We also have a cousin who is anxious to visit. Since we didn’t have any place for her to sleep we haven’t had her stay with us. I was excited to put the chair in the kid’s room so she could sleep there. Unfortunatly the chair is a lot bigger than anticipated so it won’t fit in the room where I wanted it to go. Plus we wouldn’t be able to open it up to use it as a bed. So now the chair is in the living room which is fine with me since I love the chair. It is SO COMFY! I love that it’s so big and roomy and I can position myself any way I want on the chair. I have it angled just right so I can sort of see the TV. I keep joking with my husband that I want to swap out the sofa sleeper with the chair and I’ll sleep on the chair’s sleeper and he can sleep on his marshmallow chair. Ha Ha.

The chair we have is called the Daphne Supreme Comfort Twin Sleep Chair. It’s available as a non-sleeper too. It’s more like a chair and a half than a regular chair. It’s huge, but not quite the size of a loveseat.

One of the best things about this chair (and most La-Z-Boy furniture) is that you can pick out the color, fabric and design you want to match your home’s decor. I knew right away which chair I wanted but it took my husband and I a couple of days to decide on the color and fabric we wanted. We opted not to have a design. We just wanted a solid color. My husband was leaning towards brown and I wanted green (that is my favorite color). However there isn’t just one or two greens to choose from. They have dozens of greens. The same applies to browns, reds and other colors too. If a pattern is your thing they have plaids, florals, geometric, stripes and even novelty designs. My daughter wanted me to order the zebra print design. Some how that wouldn’t match my living room. LOL.

I find that I sit in our new chair often throughout the day. It’s a great piece to curl up with a good book. And because it’s made exceptional well I know this piece will be with my family for many years to come.
