I have one really bad habit (aka “vice”) – I bite my nails. I know it’s horrible. I know it’s gross. I make a concious effort not to do it. Sometimes I don’t realize I am doing it right away. I mostly do it when I’m frazzled (stressed out) or nervous about something. My son does the same thing and I am desperate to find a way of making him stop doing it too.
My daughter used to bite her nails too. Thankfully she stopped. Now she has nice, long nails. She is also obsessed with nail polish (she has more bottles of nail polish then one person will ever need!) and she’s always doing her nails. In fact she is really good at adding designs to them. She has a few specialty nail polish that allows her to draw designs on her nails and I have to admit she’s really good at it. The only problems is she’s a “lefty” and she always has a hard time doing the nails on her left hand, especially when it comes to adding designs. Often she’ll only do designs on her right hand.
I think when she’s older I’ll let her take classes at the local BOCES on doing nails. Not so much professionally, but rather so she can learn to care for nails properly.
If you empty out my daughter’s pocket book/purse you’ll find nail files, a cuticle pusher, nail clippers and a hodge podge of assorted manicure necessities. Thankfully there is now a tool available that combines everything you need to keep your nails in tip top shape. It’s called the 6-in-1 Deluxe Manicure Tool. It’s made by Health Enterprises, Inc.
The 6-in-1 Deluxe Manicure Tool contains a dual sided cuticle pusher and cleaning stick, nail clipper, dual sided buffer and nail file and a nail clipper. It is also made with a silicone handle making it comfortable to hold in your hand too. The Multitool is also small and compact making it ideal to tote around in your purse, backpack and luggage. You an even keep one in your desk drawer at work or the glove compartment of your car.
Even though my daughter has plenty of nail files, a nail clipper (actually two of them) and a few other essentials, she tends to use the 6-in-1 Deluxe Manicure Tool often. I know she carries it with her when she goes out because she was filing down a nail that broke at a family party yesterday.
My daughter uses every tool except the nail brush. She’s not really sure of it’s purpose and frankly neight am I. It’s a small brush that I can only assume you use to brush off dried skin on your cuticles or around your nail. I’m not 100% sure. My daughter said she wishes they could replace the brush with a cuticle trimmer instead. I think that might be more practical than the brush.
The 6-in-1 Deluxe Manicure Tool would make a great gift or stocking stuffer for someone who loves to do their nails. It’s also handy to have on hand around your home instead of having to worry about purchasing multiple products.
This handy little gadget is found at CVS and retails for 6.99. You can find it both in stores and online.

The nail brush is for scrubbing the dirt from under your fingernails.
