Taste of Home Best Loved Recipes Cookbook

I have a “thing” for cookbooks. I am not really sure why. I have some amazing cookbooks, some of which I don’t utilize as often as I know I should. A lot of my problem is lack of preparation space. I have very little counter top space to prepare big meals.

I do try and make recipes that require little ingredients, space, or cooking time. Personally I LOVE to try new recipes. There is hardly any foods that I don’t like. It’s my husband and kids that usually prevent me from trying out recipes that I really want to try. That is why I’m super excited to get a house so we have more room to entertain. My ‘inner Martha Stewart” is going to burst out of me and I’ll be the Entertaining Queen of my neighborhood. :-)

I subscribe to a couple of food related magazines. I love the holiday issues the most.

One magazine I subscribe to is Taste of Home. I can’t tell you how many issues I have saved because they are filled with recipes that I want to try.

Taste of Home will be releasing in September a brand  new cookbook called Taste of Home Best Loved Recipes. I was fortunate to get an advanced copy. THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!

I must tell you that this books is HUGE, and rather heavy. You could probably do some serious damange to your toes if you drop it on your foot. LOL. This book contains over 900+ pages. It’s also jam packed with 1,485 recipes. Yes, you read that correctly – 1,485 recipes!

I have spent several days drooling over the recipes in the book. I even have about a dozen pages already “dog earred” with recipes I MUST try. Some of the recipes I have marked include…

- Savory Party Bread (super easy to make!)

- Yummy Mummy Cheese Spread (looks like a real mummy - very cute!)

- Zucchini Cupcakes

- Pineapple Pepper Chicken  (MMMM!!!)

- Candy Bar Apple Salad

- Sweet and Sour Brussel Sprouts

- Best Broccoli Soup

- Beef Rouladen

These are just a few of the recipes I’ve already marked off to try out.

This books has it all – literally. It has appetizers, main meals, side dishes, desserts, snacks, beverages, holiday favorites, comfort foods, backyard get together options, elegant dinner entrees and so much more. Many ethnic foods are also found within the pages of this book.

Also included in this book are award winning recipes, quick and easy meals, cooking for one or two, celebrations and holidays, candy, pot luck picks, condiments and sauces. There are 26 chapters in this book.

If there is a recipe you are looking for chances are it can be found in this book.

Most of the recipes have 1-5 “steps” to them and there are hundreds that use only a few simple ingredients. Of all the recipes I read through I didn’t come across any that required exotic or hard to find ingredients. Most of the ingredients you either already have or can pick up at your neighborhood grocery store.

These recipes come from real people, not fancy gourmet chefs. There are real recipes for real people by real people.

There is a quote on the Taste of Home website about this book that I think sums it up beautifully – “It’s like America’s biggest recipe exchange“.

There is a great video that tells you more about the book. I am unable to embed it in this post but you can find it here, http://www.TasteofHome.com/Best-Loved-Recipes/Cookbook/About. I have to forewarn you, don’t watch the video if you are hungry. :-)

With the holiday season approaching you might want to put this cookbook down on your gift list. This would be a perfect gift for someone who is just starting out cooking (a “newbie”) all the way up to a seasoned pro. This would also make a great gift for a new home (house warming gift) and a wedding/bridal shower gift. Don’t forget to “gift” yourself too!

If you were own just one cookbook I would think this would be the only cookbook you’ll ever need.

The book will not be available until September 13, but you can order it from the Taste of Home website, www.TasteofHome.com/Best-Loved-Recipes/Cookbook. You also get a free bonus when you order from their site too.
