Adding a Pool Table to your Home Provides Hours of Family Entertainment

Are you tired of watching the kids watch endless hours of TV, or sit for long periods of time on the computer? Is going out on a fun family entertainment night getting just too expensive? Don’t worry! There is actually a great way you can keep the whole family entertained and keep from spending money all the time too. All you have to do is turn that extra room into a billiards room. What?

Don’t have an extra room? Well, then make room in your living area for a pool table. This is an important home entertainment furnishing that every family should have.

Playing pool can be a great way to promote family time and togetherness; a wonderful stress reliever and a more productive way to spend your free time (much better than watching TV). This is the place where family members can easily talk about their problems, and not feel threatened by a parent’s response. After all, it’s just the guys and girls having some fun at home. The following are just a few of the billiard games you can play when you have your own home pool table.

Eight Ball

This is probably the most popular of the pool games and is played with all six of the pool table’s pockets. It is the game people are most familiar with and is the easiest to understand.

Nine Ball

Another popular billiards game, invented in the U.S.A during the 1920s. This was known as the “money game” or gambler’s pool game; but now is just as popular as eight ball. The object of the game is to hit the balls in numerical order and placing each in the pockets. The first player to place all the balls in the pockets followed by the 9-ball is the winner.

Cut Throat

This is a fun game for three players, each assigned 5 balls, which must be played continually without losing all of their balls. If they lose all of their assigned balls then they are out.

Continuous

This is usually played by experienced players and involves naming your shot prior to pocketing it. This is a points game and once the right number of points is attained the winner is called.

One Pocket

This game is played by two players with just two pockets. Each player has one pocket and you lose a point every time you pocket a ball in the opponent’s pocket.

At any rate, owning one of these modern pool tables offers hours of enjoyment for the whole family. The entire family can play together or just whoever is home at the moment. Even sole players can enjoy some time alone practicing their billiards skills and relieving some of life’s everyday stress.
