Fall Scents

I know it’s a bit premature, but I’m already in the Fall/Autumn mood. I have some fall decorations around my home and I have been burning fall scented candles and oils for the past few days. Even though it’s still hot and humid, and the leaves have barely started to change colors, I just can’t help but get into the “fall state of mind” the moment we change the calendar to September 1st.

I love the scents of Autumn. I go crazy with candles and oils. Even our hand soaps are fall scented.

My favorite fall scents include apples, pumpkins and spices. Some places have special scents created for Autumn including Leaves and Autumn Wreath.

Many people love to scent their homes for the fall season, but what about YOUR personal scent? Now that Summer is quickly becoming a faded memory it’s time to update your perfume. Did you know that Sandalwood is this seasons hottest fragrance? Check out this press release that talks about this seasons “in” fragrance.

Tru Fragrance, a leading fragrance development company that manufactures, launches and markets private brand fragrances for retailers and specialty retailers worldwide, today announced the sensual scent of Sandalwood as the fragrance “HipNote” for fall 2012. Recognized as one of the oldest, most valuable and expensive raw materials in modern perfumery, Sandalwood’s sexy scent has been known to evoke a calming effect and awaken sensuality.

Deeply rooted in the heritage of perfumery, Sandalwood Oil is becoming endangered and is increasingly more expensive to harvest, leading to the gradual substitution of synthetic varieties of sandalwood within fine fragrances. This season’s HipNote is presented as a special edition fragrance crafted to commemorate fall’s hottest scents. Sandalwood will make an appearance in some of the most highly-anticipated fragrance launches for men and women this fall, including Taylor Swift’s Wonderstruck Enchanted, Donna Karan Woman, Dolce and Gabbana Pour Femme, Beyonce’s Midnight Heat, YSL Manifesto, Charming Charlie So Smitten and Tilly’s RSQ for Her.

“Sandalwood is a deeply sensual and calming note that helps extend the wear in fine fragrances. Its lingering scent is ideal for those looking for a fragrance that will complement cooler days and nights,” said Amy Braden, director of product development for Tru Fragrance.

This season’s HipNote was selected by Harry Fremont, master perfumer from world-leading fragrance and flavor company Firmenich, and creator of fine fragrances including CK One, Eternity Moment and DKNY Men. The special edition HipNote Sandalwood was selected to celebrate fall’s trendiest note, while simultaneously educating fragrance enthusiasts on the importance of sustainability within the world of perfume.

“The use of synthetic substitutes within the fragrance world, like those found in HipNote Sandalwood and many of the season’s product launches, are essential in assisting in sustainability efforts, helping to ensure the fragrance development process does not destroy natural resources. By using these synthetic blends, we are able to eliminate any allergens that are found in nature and create consistency across different batches of the same fragrance product,” added Braden.

The limited edition HipNote Sandalwood is available by request in limited quantities via “Hipnozes by Tru Fragrance” on Facebook, a dynamic, interactive online community that connects consumers who share a passion for fragrance, beauty and fashion. I love the scent of Sandalwood and I do consider it a fall scent (although you could wear it year round). It has a musky-Earthy quality about it.

I happen to have a bottle of HipNotes Limited Edition Sandalwood. I have been wearing it for a few weeks now (even thought it was still technically Summer).

I have a hard time being descriptive with scents. I do have to say that this scent is very subtle. It’s not overpowering. As odd as it might sound I find the scent to be rather soothing and relaxing. It’s not an “energizing” scent. It’s more of a ”calming” scent.

I would have to describe the scent as “Earthy”. I don’t mean dirt and decaying leaves but rather it reminds me of a walk in the woods on a cool Autumn day, enjoying the beautiful array of colors in the trees. When I close my eyes and breath in the scent images of fall do come to mind.

I know my description sounds a bit corny, but that is how I truly feel about the scent.

My teen daughter is very picky about her perfumes. She has $$$ perfumes given to her as gifts from her cousin who works in the beauty product industry. There is no way she would wear something that didn’t smell classy. My daughter happens to like the HipNotes Limited Edition Sandalwood perfume. She has been alternating it with other perfumes that she likes to wear.

I’m giving this scent a two thumbs up. It’s a great, light, subtle scent that is ideal for the Autumn season.
