Get $25.00 for FREE from Serve – a new service from American Express

FREE MONEY! Who wouldn’t want that?

Yes, you read that correctly – FREE MONEY! $25.00 to be specific. All you have to do is open up a FREE account at Serve, a new service from American Express.

What is Serve? Serve is a new prepaid reloadable account service from American Express. You can send and receive money via Serve). You can use Serve online, on your Verizon smart phone or with your special Serve card that is similar to a debit card with the except of the money you can spend is on your Serve account, not your bank account (not unless you use your bank account as a back up funding source).

Here are some more details about the new service.

What is Serve?

Serve is a digital prepaid account designed for anyone that gives you a safe way to pay in stores, online, and mobile. You can also send and request money on Facebook.

Serve is from American Express

Serve’s Facebook app

Serve’s Facebook app is the only way to send and request money on Facebook. So you can get your friends to pay you back without ever leaving Facebook.

Security

Serve uses advanced technology from American Express to keep your information and transactions safe and secure.

Using the Serve card at ATMs

Use the card to get cash at ATMs. Serve will waive its $2 withdrawal fee for your first withdrawal each month. ATM owner fees may apply.

Link your bank account or card

You can fund your account with a bank account, American ExpressCard, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa card.

Essentially it functions the same way as a debit card. Personally I use my debit card all the time. I never leave home without it.

I think Serve would be ideal for college students. Parents can allot them a certain amount each month for expenses and the student can make purchases using their Serve card. That would allow parents to keep track of their student’s spending and make sure they don’t over spend.

I signed up for a FREE account and uploaded $25.00 from my back up source. A back up funding source is good to have just in case you need to spend a wee bit over the amount in your Serve account. What I like about Serve is that you can choose to make your back up source offer unlimited back up funding or just a specific amount. I have mine set at $100 meaning I cannot use my other account for more than $100 more then what I have in my Serve account. I feel that offers me more security for my other account. That way is someone uses my Serve card or account illegally they cannot take out more than $100 from my other account. You can make it any amount you want too. If you want to make it $10 or $1,000 it’s totally up to you. You can also choose NOT to have a back up funding source either.

When you create a new account and upload $25.00 to your Serve account (via a bank account), Serve will deposit and additionally $25.00 in your account for FREE. It’s your $$$ to do with whatever you want.

Here is a screen shot that shows you the current balance in my Serve account. $25.00 is from me, $25.00 is from Serve from their special promotion.

Within about a week you’ll receive your Serve card so you can start using the money to make purchases you would make with any other type of card (gas, food shopping, retail shopping, donating to charities, paying bills…). You can also use Serve online.

There are also NO Credit Checks, NO Monthly Fees and NO Annual Fees.

HURRY!!! The FREE $25.00 offer ends on September 30, 2012.

Look for a giveaway I’ll be hosting soon where the prize will be $250.00 deposited into your Serve account. AWESOME!!!
