I am not a fan of shopping for clothes. I probably would love to shop for clothes if it wasn’t for two things – I’m considered “petite” and I’m overweight. When it comes to shopping for tops it’s not so bad. Most tops are long on me but I don’t mind. They cover my big butt.
When it comes to shopping for pants and jeans it’s a nightmare.
I have fallen into the “rut” of wearing stretch pants because they are just about the only thing that fit OK. It’s OK if they are a wee bit long because they can just bunch up around your ankles. It’s not the most appealing look but it’s “do-able”.
I used to wear jeans all the time when I was younger, however they were generic, store brands. I could never wear the “in” jeans or designer jeans because they simply did not fit me.
For some odd reason I’m not able to find jeans that fit me perfectly anymore. If I happen to find a pair they tend to be A LOT of $$$. I don’t understand why “plus size” clothing has to be almost double the cost of “regular size” clothing. That is so unfair! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a pair of jeans I loved, or an outfit I would love to add to my wardrobe, but it ends up costing a small fortune.
I’ve pretty much resigned myself to the fact that wearing jeans was a thing of the past or I’d have to win Lotto to afford a decent pair. Or worst yet, have to wear “mom jeans” or the ones with the waist that is made up entirely of elastic. I may be overweight but I shouldn’t have to settle for “frumpy” clothing.
Not too long ago I was invited to the Lee “Fit Your Fit” Summit event for bloggers. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend. At the same time I assumed it would be pointless to go even if I could attend because there is no way Lee jeans would fit someone like me.
Lee was convinced that I could find the perfect fit and asked me to pick out jeans. I picked out the jeans with the side elastic. I figured that I would need jeans with a bit of “wiggle room”. I also figured that being overweight the elastic would help me to get the jeans buttoned and zipped up easily (I’m sure many people have had to deal with jeans that are hard to button and zip).
The representative from Lee told me the Classic fit would be great. I was a bit reluctant to try them because I figured they would be hard to button and zip. Lee went ahead and sent me both pairs to review.
I cannot tell you how excited I was to do this review. I even “stalked” the delivery guys every day in hopes of my package arriving. When it finally did I teared into it to try them on. I have not worn jeans in ages and I was anxious to wear them again.
The first pair I tried on where the ones with the side elastic. What I like about these jeans is that you can barely see the elastic and I also wear long shirts so it covers it up too. No one would know that I have that extra room in my jeans.
They fit perfectly! The length was perfect. The size was perfect. I was shocked! Not only that they feel comfortable already, like I’ve worn them for months (you know how cozy and comfy worn jeans feel).
I was concerned that they would look like “mom jeans” on me, but they don’t. They look like jeans that “regular sized” people would wear. They look good on me too. Oh how I missed wearing jeans!
I picked up the jeans in Indigo color because I love the look of dark denim, plus dark colors are more slimming.
The only thing I had to get used to was that the ankle area was lose. I’m so used to wearing stretch pants that cling to your body. It took me a bit to get used to the looseness around my ankles. Ideally I would love for them to be a little smaller (tapered) at the ankle, but none the less I still love them.
I tried on the Classic style next. I also ordered these in Indigo.
Oh… my… goodness… they PERFECTLY! Dare I say that I didn’t need the elastic for that extra “wiggly room”. The Classic fit don’t have elastic and they fit beautifully. In fact I like then MORE then the ones with the elastic sides. I can button and zip them with ease. The legs are tapered a bit too so they fit more snugly by the ankles. These jeans are perfect! So much so that I intend on ordering them in the different colors too.
To add to my excitement, Lee jeans are budget friendly! I don’t have to pay $50-$75+ for a single pair of plus size, petite jeans. Lee has jeans for around $30.00. I can get almost three pairs of jeans for a little more than the cost of just one pair of jeans elsewhere. Needless to say Lee jeans are going to to be my “go to” jeans source.
Lee doesn’t just cater to plus size petites. They carry jeans for men and children too, both regular and plus sizes. Most of the jeans I see on the site are in the $30 range. They even carry t-shirts, jackets and dress pants for men.

I am so grateful that Lee invited me to their Find Your Fit Summit. If they hadn’t I would have never had known that I could once again wear affordable jeans that fit perfectly and comfortably.
