My husband and I have been making it a point to go to the movies as often as we can. My hubby has been taking off days so that we can go to a matinee and lunch. This way we don’t have to worry about leaving the kids home in the evening. Even though they are teenagers I still feel weird leaving them home when it’s dark outside.
Matinees are also less expensive and going during the week means less crowds. In fact most movies we’ve gone to see we’re either the only ones in the theater or there are just a handful of people. We saw Taken 2 on Friday morning and the theater was actually full, which is weird for a 10:00 AM movie on a Friday morning.
As much as I enjoy going to the movies and seeing new releases it can be very expensive, especially if you have a family. When you factor in tickets, beverages and snacks it can cost you a small fortune. We can’t even smuggle in candy or water because the theater randomly inspects bags. Sigh…
Thank goodness for things like Movies on Demand. It’s a great way to see some what current movies for a fraction of the cost to take the family out to the theater. Plus I can make my own popcorn and save a lot of $$$. Movies on Demand cost around $4.00 per movie (give or take – I suppose it might vary by location).
Not only does ordering Movies on Demand save money on tickets and snacks, you also don’t have to worry about finding parking at the theater or having to go out in inclement weather.
Movies on Demand offers movies that are newly released on Blu-ray and DVD. In most cases the movies appear on Movies on Demand the say day they are released on Blu-ray/DVD in the stores.
Check out this month’s releases on Movies on Demand. I’ve also included the “end” dates which extend into 2013. That gives you plenty of time to see your favorite movies or discover a new favorite.
I’ve seen some of the movies listed. I would recommend People Like Us, Dark Shadows, Rock of Ages, Moonrise Kingdom and Magic Mike. I saw bits and pieces of Prometheus on a flight to LA. It looked good from what I saw. I’ll be posting my review of Moonrise Kingdom and The Raven soon.
Chernobyl Diaries is great for those easily frightened, but if you are a die-hard horror movie fan like I am you won’t impressed. But none the less it was OK.
Remember, the start dates are this month (whatever is listed) and the end dates go into 2013 with the exception of Excuse Me for Living which ends in 2012.
