To the person who invented string cheese – THANK YOU! I love string cheese. Years ago when string cheeses first came on the market I would purchase them for my kids to add into their school lunches, or give them for snacks. Once I tried them for myself I was hooked on them. String cheeses are not just for kids. Even my husband enjoys them.
One of my favorite ways to enjoy string cheese, such as America’s Favorite String Cheese, Frigo® Cheese Heads® String Cheese, is as a snack. A cheese stick and a Granny Smith apple is one of my favorite “go-to” snack options. The sweet, juicy apple combined with the creamy cheese, goes so well together. That is why a lot of times when you see a cheese platter there is almost always some fruit available too. Cheese and fruits go great together.
I like eating one along side applesauce too.
Something you would not associate with string cheese is soup. I love to take Frigo® Cheese Heads® Light String Cheese (or the regular Frigo® Cheese Heads® String Cheese) and cut it up into small slices and sprinkle them on top of tomato soup. The cheese doesn’t really melt but it gets soft and creamy which I like, especially paired up with the hot tomato soup. Mmm… I could go for that right now!
I did try to bread them once to make mozzarella sticks to dunk into marinara sauce, like the kind of appetizer you get at a restaurant. Unfortunately the bread crumbs didn’t stick to them, however my kids, and myself, still love to dunk them in warmed marinara sauce. It’s almost like a mozzarella stick but without the breading.
If you carefully slice one in half you can put it along side a hot dog in the bun and have a cheesy hot dog. I’ve done that too.

I’ve tried both the regular and lite varieties and I honestly don’t see much of a difference. For an extra 40 calorie savings I’ll always grab for a package of the lite cheese when available.
