Halloween Treats & More from Hershey’s (giveaway ends 10/23/12)

This is one of the hardest times of the year for those of us who are trying to watch what we eat. It’s hard to resist all the yummy Halloween candy. Personally we need to hide the candy we picked up for the Trick-or-Treaters or else it will be gone long before Halloween night. The last I checked there appears to be a little mouse whose already nibbling on the candy. And by mouse I mean my hubby. I know it’s him because all of the Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups are gone. Grrr! Those are my favorites too.

One fun addition to this year’s Halloween candy line up is the Cadbury Egg. Most people associate the Cadbury Egg with Easter. I looks like an egg made out of chocolate. When you “crack” it open a white and yellow cream comes out, similar to an egg white and yellow yolk. I used to eat them all the time during the Easter holiday. I used to buy the multiple packs. They were just too good to resist. But they are very sweet. Once egg is more than enough.

This year a new egg is being introduced. It’s the new Cadbury “Scream” Egg. It’s the same chocolate and cream flavor that we love, but instead of having the white and yellow center is has a creepy, slimy looking center. Parents might be grossed out by it but certainly not kids. They go crazy for cool stuff like this.

The Cadbury Scream Egg tastes exactly like it’s Easter “cousin”. If you love the Easter version then you’ll certainly enjoy this egg.

The Cadbury Scream Egg is not the only new product Hershey’s is introducing Halloween. I’m sure you have already seen some of these on the store shelves including…

• NEW – Super Size Stand Up Bag – 210 pieces (Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars, Reese’sPeanut Butter Cups, Whoppers Malted Milk Balls, Kit Kat Wafers and Milk Duds Candy)
• NEW – Hershey’s Lovers’ Assortment – 50 pieces (Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars, Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Crème Candy Bars, Hershey’sMilk Chocolate with Almonds Bars and Mr. Goodbar Chocolate Bars)
• New – Kit Kat Halloween Bars
• New – Super Snack Size Chocolate / Sugar Candy Mix – 140 pieces (Jolly Rancher hard candies, Twizzlers Strawberry Twists, Whoppers Malted Milk Ball, Twizzlers Pull n’ Peel Candy, Milk Duds Candy and Twizzlers Rainbow Twists).  

These are just some of the new products available from Hershey’s this Halloween season. You can also look for new packaging and shapes including York Peppermint “Batties” (patties shaped like bats) as well as York Peppermint Patties shaped like pumpkins.

There are new Kit Kat bars out this season too. They have been molded into four different Halloween designs with fun messages like “Best Witches” and “You’ve Been Bitten”. 

Did you know that 52% of Americans hand out chocolate to Trick-or-Treaters and only 30% opt for hard candies and lollipops? That is fine with me. I prefer chocolate. What do YOU prefer?
