Not too long ago I was introduced to Lush products. I have heard of Lush before from other blogger friends of mine, but I have never used any of their products until just recently. Now I see what my friends were raving about. I ♥ Lush!
Lush products are freshly made, and they are made by hand. Most of the Lush products I have tried come with expiration dates. I have never seen an expiration date on any of my bath & body or beauty products before. I never thought they would expire.
In a nutshell Lush products are;
- 100% are vegetarian
- 83% are vegan
- 60% are preservative free
- 38% are packaging free (naked).
The reason why Lush products have expiration dates is because most Lush products are made with a combination of products, many of which are natural. To get the maximum benefit from the products and their ingredients it’s recommended that you enjoy them before their expiration dates.
To find the expiration date simply look for the little sticker some where on the packaging. Usually that sticker also gives you the name of the Lush employee who personally made your product by hand.
Since I’m new to Lush I didn’t know that they had seasonal products. Lush has a lot of fun products for Halloween. I was lucky enough to try two of the products myself.
GREEN CALACAS SHOWER JELLY
Calacas means skeleton in Spanish, and this colourful green jelly will get you squeaky clean – no bones about it. The energizing scent of lime and neroli perks you up and gets you moving, while the aloe vera gel gently softens skin. Especially good frozen, they make for a sharp shock in the morning for all you lazy bones!
$4.95
This is the weirdest bath and body product I have ever seen. It looks like slim but has the consistency of Jell0. It’s hard to believe you can wash your body with it.
The color is amazing too. It’s almost like neon green.
I tried the Calacas Shower Jelly both “as is” and frozen. I found it a lot easier to use “as is”. When it was frozen I had a hard time pulling off a chunk of it to use. It also seemed a bit harder to wash with compared to it’s “as is” state.
I can understand why people appreciate it more frozen. It is a weird experience rubbing something frozen on your body with the hot water washing over you. It’s like washing with an ice cube, but not as cold.
The scent is amazing! If there is one thing I love about the Lush products I’ve tried thus far is that they always have the most amazing scents. I think Lush should start making air fresheners and sachets. I can see myself buying a Lush product just to smell, not to use. That is how much I love their scents.
This would make a fun addition to your shower year round, not just for Halloween. Sadly it’s only available during the holiday.
Another fun product I was sent to review is the Enchanter Bath Bomb in a cute pumpkin shape.
ENCHANTER BATH BOMB
Make some magic in the bath on Halloween with this spirited fizzer! A colour-changing wonder, Enchanter brings busts of oranges and pinks to your bath while the citrus scent lifts your spirits.
$6.95
This was too cute to use. It’s cute enough to be left out on the bathroom counter in a small dish and use it as a Halloween decoration.
Just like the shower jelly, this bath bomb smelled SO GOOD! It says it has citrus scents but in my opinion it smelled like Halloween. I sensed pumpkin and spices, unless it was only my imagination. Whatever it’s scents are it reminded me of the Autumn/Fall and Halloween.
This bath bomb dissolves lightning fast. I was surprised how quickly it dissovled. I didn’t notice any pink colors but I did see some orange.
The great thing about this bath bomb is that it filled my bathroom with its intoxicating scent. Oooooh! My bathroom smelled so good when I was using the bath bomb. I was sad when the scent started to fade away.
Lush has other wonderful Halloween inspired products too.
TWILIGHT SHOWER GEL
Launching just in time for the spookiest night of the year, anyone in need of a good night’s sleep will love this lavender-laden shower gel. Inspired by our best-selling bath bomb Twilight, it contains a blend of deeply relaxing essential oils such as lavender flower infusion, lavender oil and ylang ylang. Use this relaxing, soothing, deep purple, twinkly shower gel to calm your mind and get you ready for sleepy time. We’re not saying it can keep the bogeyman at bay – but it certainly can’t hurt. Vegan
$9.95 100ml/ $18.95 for 250ml / $27.95 for 500ml
And…
PUMPKIN SOAP
This limited edition soap is back with its gorgeous pumpkin shape and colour, and packed with the rejuvenating scent of cinnamon. Clove, cardamom, spearmint and fresh pumpkin will warm you up after a long night of trick or treating.
$6.95
I can’t wait to see what kind of products Lush offers for the Christmas holiday. I suspect they will have a lot of products with a mint scent. I hope they have some Christmas tree scents too.
To learn more about these and other Lush products, or to find a location near you, visit www.LushUSA.com.
Lush has several stores around the world. I don’t have one local to me but thankfully I can order online.
You can also follow Lush on Facebook and Twitter.
